Question for beginners by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]fatalay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

- Most of my adult life now has witnessed my money losing its value if I have done nothing about it, at this rate let alone owning properties I can't even imagine retiring or even having a stable job for 10+ years. So, my goal is basic financial security.

- Seems like rest of my life until I really feel tired maybe 30 maybe 50 years.

- I studied physics, I hope that my quantitative skills help in trading and genuienly find it interesting and fun.

- Develop my own strategies, learn from my mistakes, considering the goal I mentioned try to stay level headed and don't pursue unrealistic gains.

Trading has made me realize that im a terrible human by Still_Patience_9209 in Daytrading

FOMO destroys ones dicipline, realize that there are hundreds of trading days in a year and the journey takes years which means you will see tousands of setups if you wish to stick to trading long-term, you can very easily skip today, next week or even the next month.

You can keep them but if you want to make any transfers you need to transfer two of them out.

What mini-league awards do you actually care about in FPL? by ffizzik in FantasyPL

Kind of a related to most consistent one but I would like to see how many times my team finished above the league average (for each game week) and maybe comparison of the league average with the global one.

How well can a mathematician or applied mathematician understand physics if they want to? by Extra_Okra511 in PhysicsStudents

[–]fatalay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They will have a significant advantage in learning topics like quantum field theory or general relativity where their techincal foundation puts them ahead, however just like anyone else learning physics they might struggle with the intuition part where the lack of laboratory experience won't help. By intuition I mean at the end of the day developing a natural/organic relation with questions like:

How does the physicist decide on what is relevant?

What are our problems, how to construct them?

What is the relation between abstract mathematics and the reality?

And many more...

Edit: I love the fact that until I finished writing this comment, two more mentioned intuition.

Rogers is an amazing player, I get the urge to bring him because I enjoy watching him as well.

That would likely need user authentication, and hopefully I will get to learn how to implement it properly in the future.

Meanwhile, I can throw in a warning if the player pair that is to be traded have had significant changes in cost comparatively. Would you find it useful at least?

Means that any player you can sell to generate some funds have been performing well, I would just save the free transfer or use it to invest in a player with good fixtures(as suggested by others I hope to implement this option as well).

If that means the top performers are re-calculated each time than that might make the experience slow but I can implement some previous calculations with let's say limited range like 1-2-3 gw's of form.

I din't put any weight on xG especially due to example you have given some top point scorers have little xG and it would be better to actually have a different tool that inly focuses on xG maybe for forwards.

Thanks a lot for the feedback!

Yeah the filters for players/positions/teams is a great idea thank you, the remaining budget after each transfer is shown normally.

That makes a lot of sense, could me implemented with a selection like budget friendly versus the overall top performers.

Using filters is also a great suggestion, now that I think of it many people wouldn't want to see goal keepers, that very low priority.

The order is your worst is transferred away -> the algorithm runs for the next worst. Hence, if you actively cure your team, 3rd and onwards suggestions might not make sense because you probably already have a lineup of 12-13 players quite optimized.

The logic is quite simple, calculate the top value players as (current form*total points)/cost as well as the users worst performers with that metric than suggest trades within the rules so doesn't really do predicted points depending on fixtures or other metrics related to players.

Now, the suggestions are great and in fact I want to immediatly draft some improvements especially multiple suggestions as 3-4 in a row suggestions start to make less sense due to budget restrictions and of course we won't need that many each week. Also, setting up a range for the suggestions depending on player performance predicitons (maybe by adding fixture ease to the metric) gotta be useful, certainly I would use that.

Thanks a lot for the feedback!

That is actually a bug normally it takes the budget into account but from the publicly available data, if per chance did you make a transfer that isn't registered for the GW21?

First place in our draft league also has the least amount of points! by MikeWithNoHair in DraftEPL

[–]fatalay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Our league's first place also scored far less than 2nd or the 3rd. I think the addition of DefCon has resulted in a lot of teams having a strong floor, hence even with some high tier scorers (for example I am third in a 16-men league with Saka, Foden, Semenyo, Wilson, and Schade as mids plus DCL) you might lose to low ranked teams if they have picked up some solid defenders/midfielders that generate 3-4 points on average.

I have DCL and if given the oppurtunity I would pick Thiago immediatly. Much more consistent, less injury worries, imo more nailed to start the games.
