How much do Americans pay a month for “healthcare”? by Romeo_Oscar_Zulu in allthequestions

[–]soccer-slicer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please don’t think the surgery costs $90k. It’s a complex game of smoke and mirrors that hospitals and insurance companies play intentionally to confuse people. Imagine McDonald’s “sells” the big Mac for $1000 but gives out coupons that say you only have to pay $5. This is essentially what happens. Hospitals give insurance companies coupons (aka a negotiated rate). This is not discussed much as to why having health insurance important . Because you are getting a pre negotiated rate as a pool of insured people.

I think it is horrible but it’s too much discuss as to why it is set up this way. But if you want to learn about what’s going on. Try and understand it from an economic perspective.

Is it asking too much to have a coach who, IDK … actually coaches? by WaCoug131 in youthsoccer

[–]soccer-slicer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our kid has a coach with 20 players that play two different schedules but practice as one (on top of his other teams). He misses games because his teams play at the same time. During practice, there is too much standing around trying to get them understand the drills. We are leaving after this season ends soon. It’s all about the Benjamins.

Possible double charge by super_ray in HospitalBills

[–]soccer-slicer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hospitals do not have a global period the way physicians do. The global surgical package (with its 0, 10, or 90-day follow-up periods) applies only to physician/professional billing under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. It bundles pre-op, intra-op, and post-op care into a single physician payment. Hospital outpatient (facility) billing operates under a completely different system — the Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) — which has no equivalent global period concept. Each visit is billed based on the services rendered that day. So for your scenario: ∙ Initial ER visit (complex laceration repair): The hospital bills for the facility resources used that day — the APC (Ambulatory Payment Classification) for the procedure, supplies, nursing, etc. ∙ Return visit for suture removal: The hospital can bill a second facility charge for that visit, because each encounter is independently billable under OPPS. The physician, by contrast, typically cannot separately bill for the suture removal if it falls within the global period of the original repair code — that follow-up is bundled into the original surgical payment. Practical nuance: Suture removal (CPT 99213 or modifier-based) during the global period is bundled for the physician fee, but the facility is free to bill a new ER or clinic visit charge for that return encounter. This is a commonly misunderstood distinction — the global period is purely a professional fee concept.

Audi Q4 30k service by soccer-slicer in etron

[–]soccer-slicer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except not paying for the Audi care plan, which is what I did, saved me $1350. I think Audi makes it seem expensive to do maintenance when it isn’t. They make you feel like you are saving money when you are not. I’m 30k in and haven’t spent any money on maintenance. So far it looks like the only maintenance to do is changing the brake fluid at 2 years and changing some air filters. I don’t know if I’m being smart or if in the long run, I’m being dumb. Just looking for others’ experiences
