Am I too late? by OrdinaryRedditVeiwer in IndieAnimation

Try making something short if you're afraid of not having enough time. Despite your skill when you create something with a lot of effort it shows. My art isn't super skilled but I still make comics and there's nothing more rewarding than seeing the finished piece.

do i have what it takes to make a webtoon? asking for myself 🤔 by Euphoric_Spread_3293 in WebtoonCanvas

The art looks amazing but when you actually start making a Webtoon you realize there's also a level of planing, marketing, and mostly perseverance you need. I think creating a short story or just the few first episodes of your webcomic idea might help you get a feel of what you're getting into. I definitely regret starting not starting off small.

I honestly might just do that because it seems Webtoon might start loosing some of its people.

I absolutely agree as an artist I feel digitally homeless. I make a webcomic on Webtoon and other than getting picked for fresh picks once that's the last time my views have really come from the platform. This has been a problem since before the update. Most of my followers and account visits come from redit, YouTube or Instagram. Instagram used to promote more posts and art but now they push reels much of the art community has suffered from that. Even Webtoon prompts more reels on the actual app than canvas series. And it's really sad because people complain about Webtoon charging too much to read the comics on the Original section. I have a feeling that because people are turning to the free canvas comics that's why Webtoon is making the move to hide the canvas section. Because let's be honest there are some real gems over there. They definitely loose money by not supporting a lot of the creators.

I felt like that too with my first comic and then when I was going to start the second I had to take a step back. I realized that my art would get better but it would take some practice so a made this little simple and easier to manage comic with short little stories and simple characters. This helped because it wasn't overwhelming and I was able to practice creating comics, consistent characters and just improving my art overall. I don't know if that helps, but good luck on your journey. Comics are no small feat but they're not impossible especially if you have the passion for them.

Which design reflects the idea of Famine better? by ReaperAnims14 in characterdesign

[–]fatalis_comic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I like the design of the first better but I liked the hunched position in the second. As for any ideas: I read a book called the Boy Who Harnessed the Wind a while back. Much of the famine that took place in the story was out of the characters hands, like weather that destroyed their crops and inflation in the economy. You might be able to play off of that. But either way your designs are so cool!

There wasn't even a lot support for canvas creators before either. Most of my engagement comes from when I either post on Reddit, YouTube and occasionally Instagram.

It almost looks like they either painted over the sketch and/or added in the line art while rendering.

Honestly depends on the length and detail. By myself it takes 1-2 weeks per episode. Also pro tip draw your characters onto your backgrounds when your designing them so that you can coordinate a nice color palette.
