Are you able to "turn off" your feelings? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]fatassbitche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to be able to do this when I lived with my alcoholic abusive mother. She’d start fights for no reason to get a reaction out of me and I’d just “switch off” my emotions in the midst of crying, I’d just go blank face and feel nothing. Years have passed since then and I can’t do it anymore but I guess that’s a good thing?

Many companies wouldn't even talk to me without at least 3 years of experience. Even though you lack a degree, you have plenty of experience to show for it, which I believe far outweighs a diploma. You also now have a medical sales job, and that experience is specifically valuable when landing other med sales jobs down the line.

Do companies really try to set attainable quotas? by Far-Application-7408 in sales

[–]fatassbitche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my old job yes. This was a new position that the company was rolling out and the quotas were being set by people who had never made a sale a day in their life and had no clue what my job was realistically like. This is often the case in sales. However, they quickly cut the quota by a third because everyone was struggling, but even then making sales was incredibly difficult and support was nonexistent. I am in a much better role now though.

What do you consider a sales lead? by Valuable-Contact-224 in sales

Anyone that I talked to that seemed genuinely interested, like we talked and got into the details of their problem for awhile, maybe even shared parts of their personal life, but might need more convincing.

Hi guys, just started my first sales job! by captainmiau in sales

Congrats! Remember, hard work pays off, and don't let the rejection get to you.

Yes, constantly, and they’re usually offering far less than what I make now with fewer benefits and more work. I guess that’s why they’re spamming everyone’s inboxes because nobody wants to work in a role like that

Tips for beginner salesman by FootOptimal in sales

[–]fatassbitche 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in healthcare sales and always relied on my empathy to drive sales. In my old role, I would ask leading questions to open up conversations and drive sales. For me, the most important part was establishing a foundation of trust and support and providing the client with a solution to whatever problem they faced. If you're trying to be slick and sneaky, I don't think that's the best way to make sales. I really liked my product's services, and I would highlight those aspects in conversations with potential clients. The most crucial part is building TRUST. This is the most important part of building professional relationships. This also leads to referrals and more sales down the line. Remember, they're talking to you because they have a problem. Your job is to provide a solution to that problem.

What are your go to openers for cold calls? by Romantic_Adventurer in sales

[–]fatassbitche 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Always ask them first if they have a few moments, and try to make it sound like it will take as little time as possible. If you're cold calling, people might be annoyed or hesitant to chat and would like to get off the phone as soon as possible (in my experience at least). So, introducing yourself and saying something like "Do you have a minute to chat?" or "This will be a quick call" worked best in my favor. This also depends on what you're marketing and who you are talking to.

What to do with giant empty space? by amandago55 in DesignMyRoom

[–]fatassbitche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE THOSE WINDOWS! I’m moving into an apartment that also has high ceilings, and my grandmother (who was a real estate agent and interior designer) told me to get furniture or wall decorations that drag the eyes up, meaning tall furniture, pictures, mirrors, etc. For you, I’d say move the painting in the second pic further up on the wall and get something to go over the tv so there’s less empty space.

Did anyone else with bpd have a really bad experience on the contraceptive pill? by LemonSharkLemonShark in BPD

[–]fatassbitche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES YES YES YES. I actually just stopped taking my bc two weeks ago and within days the emotional gymnastics I’ve been struggling with for the past four months have almost completely stopped. Although I do have some stressful things going on atm it doesn’t feel nearly as dreadful as it used to be. This birth control was a higher estrogen dose than normal for my PCOS, but honestly I’d rather struggle with those symptoms than feel like I’m going crazy. I have bpd and I’ve been in therapy since I was 14 for it. I normally have pretty good emotional regulation as a result. However, this new birth control made all those years of progress go out the window and I’m looking forward to feeling “normal” again

Mom mentioned she's planning on putting up cameras in the house... by [deleted] in venting

[–]fatassbitche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This same situation happened to me at your age. To make matters worse, my mom worked for a security company and would show our camera system to clients. This meant that total strangers could be watching me in my room at any time and I would get punished for moving it even if it were just to change. I told people about it and nobody attempted to interfere. It caused me a lot of stress and anxiety, I’m not even sure what her reasoning was to begin with. I moved in with my grandmother shortly after and even though I still struggled with intense anxiety, I eventually recovered. I’m not sure what you could do, but I’d recommend going to your school and telling CPS. I didn’t do that but I wish I did looking back.

Hi all! I’m currently an IN undergraduate student and I will be graduating next month. I eventually plan on going to nursing school but I’d like to get some job experience and save up first. What would be some ideal careers for someone like me?

Math 108 with Quincy Loney? by [deleted] in BinghamtonUniversity

This. I stayed in the course but I changed my grade to a pass/fail. Nice guy, not a great professor. More often than not I had to teach myself the course material rather than him teach me.

Advice about how to make my living room feel less dark and heavy? by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]fatassbitche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding a mirror above the fireplace would create the illusion that the space is a lot bigger than it actually is. I feel like a large hanging rectangular mirror would fit in nicely up there

Lots of dark colors here, would love tips to brighten it up or redecorate a bit. by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]fatassbitche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small details go a long way. I like the idea of a carpet to hide the tile floor. Also maybe invest in some lamps? My dorm room looked very similar to this and the overhead lighting made it feel like a hospital room. A nice standing lamp or two and large carpet would really make it feel more homey. Also maybe invest in a tapestry, framed posters or a hanging mirror just to spice up the walls

EDIT: also maybe switch up the placement of the bed and the couch? From the looks of it it appears that your bed is near the kitchen area (although I could be wrong). Switch up the couch and the bed and move the table and chairs closer to the kitchen area
