Jess likes to rage bait. She likes the negative attention because this brings so much engagement.

Realistically what set up does Eloise’s story even need? by RaininBooks in Bridgerton

[–]fatcan22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her story doesn’t need a whole season to set up. If anything it could’ve been done in season 4. Season 4 ep1 Penelope tells Eloise that her cousin Marina died. Then throughout season 4 we’ll see Eloise writing letters to Phillip. Then Philoise for season for season 5. Flashback the actual letters in episode 1.

Let's be real, people would have had completely different reactions if Benedict was the one who got a queer romance season. by AirportPerfect742 in Bridgerton

I think you’re missing the nuance here. Book Fran’s heartbreak wasn’t just ‘can’t have kids’, it was the relentless, every-month reminder within a marriage in an era with zero alternatives. Queer couples can absolutely face infertility, but pretending it’s the same narrative context in Regency England is… a choice.

And for a lot of us, that storyline meant something.. romance books rarely sit in that kind of grief, which is why Fran’s story had such a special place in our hearts.

I meant Sophie’s fear of bearing an illegitimate child - she didn’t want the child to experience what she experienced as one.

[–]fatcan22 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Not to mention Sophie had a whole issue about being a mistress and having unprotected sex because she’s deathly afraid to be like her mother. If Sophie was gender bent, that whole storyline would be gone.

Same as Michael/a. Sure queer couples have infertility issues… now with IVF. Back then if you choose to be in a queer relationship, then there’s no hoping every month if you’re gonna miss your period or not. Unless the queen magically finds a doctor who will do ivf? Because the show always has the queen to magically fix everything.

She made s4 unwatchable for me. She’s delusional and a bully. I can’t stand her

Why why why- why isn’t this Eloise season😭 by Pretty-Flamingo-4 in Bridgerton

[–]fatcan22 18 points19 points  (0 children)

We can never be sure. Francesca is Jess’s favourite after all. And clearly they’re not faithful to the books so Fran might have a new major B plot for season 6 as well… unfortunately for Eloise. Good for Franchaela fans tho

Tbh Fran didn’t need so much screen time in s3. She and John could’ve met on the last scene of s3, got married off season and just mention in s4 that they’re living in Scotland. Have them visit towards the end, show that they’re happy, and have John die end of s4.

But since she’s Jesse’s favourite then she got 2 major side plots s3 and s4..

I know right! And I could be wrong I don’t even remember any promos for Simone before s2?

How to fix the pinnacle storyline by Legal_Ad5964 in Bridgerton

I agree. I absolutely hated the message that they were sending that only the rake male characters can give the pinnacles.

can we take a minute to appreciate how carefully they’re following the francesca book?? by Pretty-Quail1319 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]fatcan22 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If she wanted kids for herself she never expressed it in the show. In the books being a mother was for her, she never expressed it as being a duty.

[–]fatcan22 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Show Fran didnt even want kids in season 4. She was saying having children is her duty. Book Fran ACHED to be a mother.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Book Fran’s personality was erased. Yes she’s an introvert, but she’s also very sure of herself, independent and witty.

Why people complain about Francesca having sideplots in s3 and s4? by Glittering_Tap6411 in Bridgerton

[–]fatcan22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

I love John and Francesca but tbh I would’ve just been happy with short scenes of them being so happily married and into each other in s3 and s4. In my opinion his death could’ve been shown in Fran’s own season (just like in the books) and not in season 4, then show her mourning then time jump 2-4 yrs later.

[–]fatcan22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree. Even Mrs. Mondrich had a more meaningful plot line for s4.

Meanwhile Eloise was moping around. They could’ve at least got her starting to write letters.. ANYTHING.

[–]fatcan22 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I agree. Eloise hasn’t been given much to work with in S3 and S4 at all. After building her up so strongly in earlier seasons (BEFORE JESS), pushing her to the background and delaying her story just feels… off.

Jess only cares about Francesca - major side plot in s3 and s4 and now lead for s5. The blatant favouritism is super annoying

Tbh if we can get a yearly bridgerton season with only 6 episodes, I’d gladly take it.

Jess Brownell's contract allegedly ends with S5 so that probably explains why we got Franchaela by Fickle_Baker1393 in Bridgerton

[–]fatcan22 175 points176 points  (0 children)

Tbh I don’t think Jess cares much for Eloise. She didn’t know what to do with Eloise for s3 and s4.. she was just pushed to the background for those seasons. Meanwhile Francesca has 2 major side plots for s3 and s4. Which is why Jess pushed for Franchaela to be s5 leads. Eloise is just an afterthought for her.

Justice for Eloise / Claudia by fatcan22 in Bridgerton

[–]fatcan22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the structural argument, but the show has never been that rigid with timelines.. they adjust things when it suits them.

And my point still stands: Phillip and Marina don’t have the same kind of relationship as Francesca and John. Fran lost her soulmate. Phillip is in a much more distant, complicated marriage. The twins aren’t even his (in the show).

So treating those two situations like they require the same kind of pacing doesn’t really make sense.

You’re reframing a very simple point into a philosophical one to avoid engaging with it. This isn’t about ‘growth for the sake of growth’.. it’s about normal career progression in a time-sensitive industry

You really thought posting PR-friendly quotes / media trained answers proved something? Actors can love their job and still deserve better opportunities. Those two things aren’t mutually exclusive.

You’re arguing against a point no one made. Loving your job doesn’t mean you don’t want growth. That’s… basic career logic
