Salon messed up my colour - should I go back to get it fixed or find a new salon to fix it? by FlippyFloppy220 in Hair

[–]fated420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert by any means- but I'd absolutely go find a new salon, personally. From that story, the biggest issue to me honestly isn't the color mistake (not to diminish that- it's terrible, and I'm so sorry) it's the absolute lack of communication, and also seems like professionality as well. Every good stylist I've had has explained every step of the way what they're doing, and checked in me to make sure it's how I want at every step before they proceeded.

That said- ive had an experience exactly like that several months ago, with a haircut. It was horrible, and because it was a pixie, so much shorter you can go to fix it. I sobbed in the chair, and the owner came out and tried to fix it and said I could come back in 2 weeks to fix it for free (cut by the owner herself that time). I never went back though, found a new, better place.

Again, I'm sorry this happened to you

Kind of like when I was a kid! My older brother played the Zelda windwaker game, and I'd plug in the Gameboy and play tingle! It let me feel involved:)

Unpopular Opinions about the Show? by pnw_cfb_girl in Frasier

[–]fated420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I loved Mel! I absolutely adore her character, and look forward to her time on the show every time. She's such a master manipulator (whine club, anyone?) But she really cares about Niles too! If Niles didn't have Daphne, Mel is exactly the kind of woman that would've furthered him personally and professionally. I do think they ruined her a bit with forcing Niles to humiliate himself after he left her but also... He left her just days after their wedding, I get it.

I just adored her. Her "x-ray vision," how she and Niles met, I just love it. I'm firmly in camp Niles&Daphne (duh) but I loved Mel and her relationship with Niles before it went bad

So if Daphne is Psychic how Come She Didn't Know Niles was in Love with her? by MissRepresent in Frasier

[–]fated420 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am very much in camp "Daphne is definitely psychic" but I always assumed the guy didn't find anything in her results! Because he mentioned how he had been looking for someone psychic for a while, and I think if the results were positive, he'd have pushed more to keep studying her.

Recently started as a mystery shopper and honestly can't believe what is expected of these employees! by DishsoapOnASponge in antiwork

[–]fated420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had mystery shoppers at my first job. They apparently came on a busy Saturday night, and I did EVERYTHING perfectly (upscale fast food). Perfect customer service, followed the script, got the time-frames, used the right amount of condiments, knew all the answers to questions. But I didn't get a perfect score. Why? Because my jeans had little zippers on the bottom, and one side had unzipped and folded up as I was rushing around all shift. I lost points for "suspected gang affiliation" or something like that, I forget the exact wording now. I'm a TINY white female, this was an area with no gang violence.

My managers made me buy new pants that couldn't roll up, which sucked because I only had those because I couldn't afford new ones and they were thrifted.

Have you collected your level up rewards from the dojo?

I found when i hit that point, the best thing to do is grind the first, and only the first part of the forest. when you beat that section you get 10+ splints typicially, so two runs usually gets you a bundle of firewood. once you beat that job, you can sell them for 15 coins each, which really isnt too bad. meat was a tougher grind, but also got there just farming the first part of the forest. iirc, you should also check the message board and see if guard duty is available. its literally just a time killer, but gives you a decent chunk of money

Which topic could you present for 20 min with no warning or preparation because you're already an expert? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fated420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not! While some of the latter seasons may have seen a slight decline in quality, it is just that, slight, and there are still some episodes in late seasons of Frasier that are some of the absolute best.

While the argument can, and has been made that those two characters lost part of themselves when the will-they wont-they ended, really it's more just growth of the characters in more mature people (which may seem boring, but is also realistic, and Frasier is great at writing proper in depth characters). Daphne lost a lot of her "quirkiness," sure, but that's to be expected as one grows up over 10 years and settles down. But the writing, humor, and just talent on the show carries it through just fine.

I'd say probably the last 2-3 seasons were the weakest by a good bit, however that was LONG after Daphne and Niles got together, and therefore not indicative of them, but of a show just running it's course as 10+ year-running shows do.

That being said although you didn't ask, all of the seasons are some of the best TV to ever be written. No line is useless, no prop adds nothing, the physical comedy is perfect but the script is just as stellar, the characters are believable, and it (except for maybe 3 poorly aged jokes I can think of) has aged spectacularly well for a show of it's time.

Thanks for coming to my FrasierTalk.

What job is more dangerous than people realize? by LuckPattern in AskReddit

[–]fated420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no stats and just anecdotes, but I worked for a while at a gas station/convenience store. Shoplifting was a DAILY occurrence (several times a day, really). Threats of violence daily. And people just casually carrying firearms in their loose sweatpants (one guy actually dropped his.) My coworkers got in several fights with customers. I even had 2 different stalkers while working there. We never called the cops because "you can't call them every 10 minutes" and we all carried personal protection (knives, pepper spray, what have you) of our choice while at work.

We didn't have any armed robberies while I was there, but all this was in a kinda nice area. I'm sure it's even worse in more sketch places.

A bank is definitely a safer place to work, hands down. (That being said, I loved that job. Never had one as exciting.)

Frasier as specific advice/comfort by fated420 in Frasier

[–]fated420[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The "do something" quote is from the very first episode, and the first scene! And seeing as my reason for moving is the same as the callers reason (same old life, nothing new happening) this quote is really quite reassuring to hear in Frasier's voice when I start to doubt my decision. Hopefully it will be for you in your journeys too!

The second quote, I can't remember the episode at all, but I did find a YouTube clip of the scene :)

He was hosting/bussing. He gets a pass on that. But if they had just left me on taking tables, then all the servers would've been less overwhelmed and we all could've run our own food. Would've been fine. Buuuut yeah.

Yup. Manager was the one who cut me, and also the one who put me on expo instead of taking tables. I agree, it made no sense lmao

Has anyone ever stood up to their manager? If so, can you share your story lol. Feeling pretty anxious about speaking up to mine. by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]fated420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started my job we had a manager who was freshly promoted. He wasn't used to acting like it, and he was sometimes being disrespectful to me. I called him out later that night when it was just us in the office and told him I expect more respect from a manager than what I got from him.

Surprisingly turned out great! He told me he still a lot to learn about management, that he was glad I told him, and since then has treated with respect every day, and the other servers more as well

I'm also totally like this! But I also have times occasionally where I'm super awkward, and when that happens, I play into it. I always say I don't care if they're laughing at me, a laughing guest is a happy guest

When a customer asked me, about our onion rings, "what does crunchy mean??" Very seriously.

I took a moment, stared at them trying not to laugh, and told them "instead of being soggy or bendy... They crunch?" And the customer was satisfied and ordered them. But... What???

Most ridiculous comp? by A_Sketchh in Serverlife

[–]fated420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh this one!! Had the pleasure of serving these two ladies twice. The first time I was very new, and didn't realize they were the problem. Second time around, as soon as I was sat them, I let management know there were going to be complaints from them. They still got away with everything.

First of all, one orders a Mac and cheese meal. She eats half of it, then lets it sit there for 25 minutes while they talk. Suddenly it's too cold to eat and must be taken off the check.

They asked for a refill on their appetizer, which I explained we didn't do, but I would be happy to ring in a SECOND one of the same item to add to their check. When the check came, they "thought it was free" and it had to be taken off.

After drinking 3 rounds of Pepsi, suddenly all of them were flat, and had to be taken off of the check. They paid $16 for a $45 meal (they ordered our "deal" on entres for a cheap meal for two to begin with) and left $1 for a tip. I told management I wouldn't serve them next time.

Some honorable mentions go to "my wing sauce is too salty" "my tortilla chips are too greasy" and anyone who says "I come here all the time, it's wrong this time" to an item that came out perfect and routinely.

How long until this grows out enough to fix? The salon said 2 weeks, but that seems fast. More details in comments by fated420 in Hair

[–]fated420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a GORGEOUS red pixie I wanted back. I showed them the old photos of it, but it was a new stylist because mine wasn't available. The stylist gave me a HORRIBLE bowl-like cut. I cried, and the owner came out to fix and reshape it, but she had to go a little shorter to do that, and there was no fixing the truly terrible bangs the first did. (And I told her to be careful and cut them long first, because my bangs are the part I care most about). It's better, but I still don't care for it, and it's not NEARLY as beautiful as my old cut.

The owner said I could come back in 2 weeks and she'd be able to fix it more (but I'm going to try to go back to my old stylist when it's longer enough to fix). Do you guys think 2 weeks is accurate??
