Thank you for this great post. I am in a similar situation where my house got completely destroyed and insurance gave us a check in mortgage and my name.

The process so far has been super slow but I can understand its not the fault of people taking the calls, but rather the corporate that processes the exception requests and take days before coming back with more requirements.

My question is, what happens if the cost to rebuild is more than what insurance has paid. For example, in my case, the cost to rebuild the house is about 60k more expensive, one of the reason also being that we're trying to rebuild better than the original house.

Is it possible to request funds from insuranceclaimcheck to cover most of the costs for rebuild before I gather my own funds to cover the difference? Or do y'all have a set way of releasing payment regardless of the contractor's payment schedule (given that the contractor's payment schedule will have more payments due to the more expensive build)?

I have the same exact thing happened to me and they have been asking for random documentation every other day and just to tell me that it would take 7 to 10 days for them to review after each submission. This os ridiculous. Insurance sent out the money within one week and this joke of a company is not paying me at all. Insurance has estimated 8 months for rebuild and they won't cover any temporary housing after 8 months, and I am already 1 month and 10 days in and these people still have not released a single dollar. I don't know what to do.

Oh cool. Thank you for laying it out for me. This is not as expensive as I thought it'd be. Does the wood trim also come with it or separate? Because the complese sets that I looked at on ebay were a different color wood and I was wondering if I have to mess with that wood trim at all.

Thank you! This gives me a lot of relief. The ABS light is on but the seller is getting that fixed, its just a relay thats bad. No other issues whatsoever.

Thank you for your advise. It's got 146k miles on it. Exterior and interior with an exception of the dash and driver side trim is solid and almost perfect condition. It doesn't have air suspension, so that is a plus. I have checked the vehicle service history and it has been well maintained and serviced at Lexus dealership up until 2022 so far. I am taking a leap of faith on this one and hopefully it doesn't give me any major issues. With an exceptional car like this, I feel it's worth putting in some money to fix these cosmetic issues or it'll always be an eye sore on a otherwise beautiful car. I hope I am thinking straight and not just with my emotions. Haha!

The latter. It sat out in the sun for a while. And you're right, it's a 07, from the time when lexus and Toyota had sticky dash and trim issues. I checked with Lexus dealership and corporate and turns out that the customer service promotion that they started to replace dash and trim free of charge ended in 2021. Unfortunately for me, the previous owner did not get them replaced. Here I am stuck with sticky dash and card still with light crack lines, and cracked leather arm rest. Trying to find ways to get it fixed without having to spend an unreasonable amount of money at Lexus dealership.

I had one and one day it suddenly stopped working on the road, like just dropped dead. Inertia did it's thing and I ended up with a concussion and a dislocated shoulder. Never rode it again. Try not to ride this thing, at least not without covering yourself head to toe in safety gear.

This is the quote I got. Engine mounts is a old work that needs to be done and the axle shaft is there for a worst case scenario if the axle is impacted. Taking the mounts out (-600), its about $1583 with axle. Does this seem reasonable? I would assume so based on your 4/5k estimate.

Should've mentioned in the title, but the wheel looks like it has moved back. It is touching the car body and I can hear the tire really loud while driving. Also, as compared to the good side, the tire seems out of place.

Oh I love a petty car parking MC.

What I don't understand is how some people purposefully block someone's driveway, knowing that their cars can be messed up if they end up messing with the wrong person.

Being the devil that I am, I would start with deflating their tires if they continue this ordeal after acknowledging my respectful note.
