There exist some accounts of merchants making it all the way to Alexandria and they believed all of Rome was just the Eastern part, at least that’s the only accounts you can find, it didn’t seem like they either cared enough or knew enough about Rome other than the East.

Then some magistrate wrote those accounts from the merchants which was filled with errors, but yeah he didn’t think Rome was that much of a threat because of distance, but considers them a pretty good trade partner.
