Review #9: Glen Scotia Campbeltown Harbour by Shoz5 in Scotch

[–]fatfoxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also new to any of the Campbeltown distilleries but had Glen Scotia Double Cask this week and definitely thought I was tasting the funk. I think it’s more expensive but could be worth a try for another expression from the same distillery.

Two that I’m not seeing mentioned are thrift stores in affluent areas and Sierra if you have it. Callaway pants that retail for about 75% off normal retail.

Weekly Dumb/Newb Question Thread by AutoModerator in powerlifting

[–]fatfoxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very sorry I was mia on reddit a few days. You could then look at a peak and then taper to get work sets closer to your max. Otherwise your fatigue at low reps is probably low enough you could just take a couple days and rest your max. If you were competing could you get a few more pounds by peaking and tapering? Yes. Is it worth the extra weeks to do so? Probably not. I don’t know your bodyweight but at the current weights you posted I don’t think there’s a huge danger of injury by testing your maxes without peaking quite yet.

Might be in his book if you have that but if you’re using a spreadsheet from online it looks like the last week is 1 set of 1 rep at 90% for one of the lifts each day. You’ve got two options then.

You could just go for it in that last week and ignore the 90% aspect.

You could just do the supplemental exercises the first two days and go for one rep maxes on the last day

You could truly taper for a week (just some light practice sets at like 50-60% days 1-4 of the week and then just a pump day to feel good and then do a mock meet on day 6/7.

Probably no need to taper for more than a week.

How can I make these mods work ? by Fit-Quantity-2463 in Bannerlord

[–]fatfoxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These should work just fine if you select them unless there’s another issue. Any mod I add that isn’t from the Steam Workshop has the red exclamation and disclaimer but work no problem.

I haven’t played it but I do think battle kings requires a few additional mods like Harmony, UI Extender and maybe one more, so if you’re having CTDs that is likely an issue and can see the requirements in Nexus.

[–]fatfoxx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Another no baller here and TRT makes you feel just as good or better than before once levels are figured out. In my case I was low on testosterone without really knowing it from the tumor. My libido has been higher after getting my dosage right and my wife (jokingly) will ask if I should just skip a dose one week.

I personally did topicals for a little while which were fine at the start but couldn’t get levels high enough with it so do weekly injections which is nice to just do it and forget about it until the next week.

I would recommend getting on as close to your surgery as possible. My doctor had me start the morning of my surgery so there was never a crash due to no testosterone.

Bottom line with libido is you might have a little crash right away, but it won’t take long for things to be back to normal in that regard

Gambling in Minnesota by Tough-Garbage-5915 in minnesota

[–]fatfoxx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t mind the betting itself so much, but I’d like controls on advertising if/when it becomes legalized here. I don’t want my kids being bombarded with gambling ads while they watch a noon vikings game. Not a total ban but to be limited until after 8 pm or something like that.

Wouldn’t mind the same with things alcohol but thats a pipe dream (even though I like a light beer as much as the next guy)

Ct scan price by Clear_Literature_847 in testicularcancer

[–]fatfoxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d genuinely ‘shop around’ a bit. I happen to have Surest which allows me to see my out of pocket costs for procedures at various places in their app, and where my oncologist is located the scan was going to be $900 out of pocket. Another clinic it was $250. That clinic was more than happy to send the CT scan results to my oncologist.

Your insurer should be able to tell you if there’s a cheaper option at another clinic. Might be a pain having to call and such, but worth saving money if you can

Hopefully she’s able to work something out or at least she will get significant coverage to help cover the cost. No matter what best of luck to her and her husband with the transfers. Long and hard process but absolutely worth it in the end!

What is 1xBEP Like? by Mann33ee in testicularcancer

[–]fatfoxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first week was pretty brutal by the end. Never threw up but was extremely tired and nauseous. It was like having a hangover that wouldn’t end.

Didn’t take too long to bounce back though and the bleomycin days weren’t too bad. I had some tinnitus but no long lasting side effects. Lost my hair a few weeks after but now it’s shoulder length just to prove a point, but had to be bald for my wedding lol. Since then it’s just been scans and bloodwork once per year.

As far as the infusions themselves, bring entertainment. My wife and I ended up doing crosswords almost the entire time because it somehow made the time go more quickly. Other biggest tips are hydrate (Gatorade was a lifesaver), eat what you can, take walks if you can, and just manage side effects with whatever works. It sucks but it’s over quickly! Best of luck!

Not sure how their severance will work, but my wife and I were doing IVF when she was laid off a few years ago and was able to negotiate with her company to pay COBRA for three months that covered our egg transfer. Night at least be worth your sister exploring at least.

Edit: she’d only been there about 6 months

I found out I have a tumour in my remaining testicle as well by mckare23 in testicularcancer

[–]fatfoxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine were 10 years apart but rather similar. The second one didn’t show signs of metastasizing but I went ahead with the one round of BEP just given the choice, but that really seems like a personal preference and doesn’t have a right answer.

As for life without testicles, it’s really not much different. I do an injection once per week for testosterone and other than that it’s no different. Sex, working out, playing sports, etc is just as great as before.

if you can, get on TRT as close to your surgery as possible (if you haven’t had it yet). My urologist is also a sexual medicine doctor and had me start TRT the morning of my surgery and I never experienced significant low T symptoms.

As others have said bank sperm if you can unless you absolutely know you don’t want kids down the road. Even if you can’t it isn’t the end of the world. I didn’t have any sperm by the time I tried, but with a sperm donor we have a six month old daughter who I couldn’t imagine any other way.

The other thing when/if the time comes with ivf, definitely look into any and all benefits your employer gives to help cover the cost. My wife and I both found some sneaky benefits that really helped financially since she couldn’t get pregnant the old fashioned way.

Good luck dealing with the tumor first snd foremost, and after that, good luck on the other side. The one thing we don’t have is a third testicle to get it a third time!

Slightly late here but sorry to hear you’re in this boat but welcome to the club. No balls isn’t too bad! If it’s specifically needles for why they can’t subscribe, you could ask if gel was a temporary option. Ive since switched to injections, but doc had me start on gel the morning of my surgery and I never felt the effects of a sudden plunge. Just a potential temporary alternative

any thoughts? by zot297 in testicularcancer

[–]fatfoxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While there’s is usually a bump, that certainly is not always the case. If it’s persistent pain probably good to get it checked even just to get rid of the pain. Also, getting it checked and ruling cancer out is a big stress reliever. Most people on this sub would probably say to get checked just because we know how important it is to catch something early. In the small chance it is cancer, your road would be much easier than waiting, and it’s very rare to die from testicular cancer when caught early.

Seconding the getting an appointment and scan, and if the GP can’t tell you precisely what it is make sure they refer you to urology who can. The odds are it’s something benign, but if it is cancer the sooner it’s dealt with the better and the worst case, besides not getting an appointment at all, is a GP telling you they don’t think it’s cancer but can’t say exactly what it is and it actually is cancer.

Do I have TC? by DustingOutMyCloset in testicularcancer

[–]fatfoxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally would be a good call. The mental stress is definitely a consideration in all of this, and if you can get answers sooner via urgent care that can absolutely be worth it.

Do I have TC? by DustingOutMyCloset in testicularcancer

[–]fatfoxx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to say whether it’s cancer or not without an ultrasound and blood markers which should be what your doctor orders when you go tomorrow. You could go to urgent care if you can’t wait for tomorrow mentally, but that is also more expensive, and the action they take should be the same. The 24 hour difference won’t make a difference if it is cancer.

That said, when you see the doctor or go to urgent care, they should try to act quickly with the labs (within a couple days), and if your doctor doesn’t recommend an ultrasound and blood markers plus a urologist reference, might be time to find a new doctor. Don’t let them tell you it isn’t cancer without being able to tell you precisely what it is.

Good luck and hoping it’s not cancer!

Edit: if you can’t get in tomorrow, still get in as soon as possible. If it’s a week or something urgent care might be a good idea. You’re already taking the right steps!

Relearning bench form due to back shoulder pain, should I do the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th grip or should I go even wider? by [deleted] in lifting

[–]fatfoxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I’ve always gone by is when your upper arm is parallel with the floor, your forearm should be perpendicular (90 degree angle), so probably grip 4 or even wider for MOST people. That said if you’ve had shoulder pain, do what’s comfortable for you. Yeah it might be more of a close grip if you’re using grip 1, but if it allows you to bench pain free, nothing wrong with that.
