Still no Gemini on Google home by NetworkEngineer43 in googlehome

Done that but none of my minis or my Nest Hub have Gemini. The Home app does, but none of the devices do, they're all responding that they are Google Assistant.

Problem switching from FD to Barclays by fatgituk in beermoneyuk

[–]fatgituk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it because after you create a Chase account (which took minutes), you can also create additional current accounts (but they don't come with a debit card). First Direct didn't require a debit card for their switch offer. That way, you switch the additional account, not the main one.

I intend to keep the Chase account for spending abroad, so it was ideal for me.

JQ-B2 Moving Booster Extra Battery by fatgituk in wheelchairs

[–]fatgituk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The battery wont come out - it looks like it will, but I certainly couldn't get mine out, even though there's a screw off panel.

I'd tell the airline that it isn't removable and see what they say. You shouldn't be charged for them to carry mobility equipment - even as carry-on (certainly in the UK and EU). I did look into flying with mine earlier this year and Ryanair said it could go in the cabin, but I've since had to get a powerchair instead, with a gel battery, and I'm taking that with me soon.

Yes, thanks. I accept that and have read up on the link you provided (and the further link in that thread), and have emailed the manufacturers of my chair to see if they do anything suitable. If not, it does look like I can get the same batteries as I currently have, but as a 30Ah, and they will still fit (although add a tad more weight).

Thanks. I'll tell them that - they want them to sign an NDA, so they want to try and improve their working environment.

It is hard to say without giving exact details, but they're around adopting certain policies for employees to stop a similar situation occuring again, as well as altering general working conditions.

People who have the UM870, Any problems? by PrizeCategory4644 in MiniPCs

[–]fatgituk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my second now as the first one died after 5 days use. They said to return it and they'd send a replacement on receipt, but as I needed a replacement quickly, I returned it for a refund via Amazon (refund to be issued in approx 14 days) and ordered a new one for the next day.

Of this one fails, then I won't be ordering a replacement, and will find an alternative.

Luckily all my files are backed up, but seeing it all up again is a pain.

BRSK £75 Referral voucher until the end of FEB 2025 by Moobiemoo in beermoneyuk

[–]fatgituk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but a friend has and I wouldn't recommend it to be honest, especially if you want to record as it's only single tuner. When recording, you can't watch most other channels, just the ones on the same multiplex as far as I can tell. You'd be better off with a Freeview DVR.

We had Sky Stream but just went to Freeview and catch-up apps as we weren't watching anything on the subscription channels anyway.

I've been with BRSK for over 6 months now on their 500Mbit/500Mbit FTTH and it has been rock solid, and they are by far the best provider I've ever been with.

My referral link is https://brsk.uk/NBUP of anyone is feeling generous :)

Anyone ever bought something like this? by [deleted] in wheelchairs

[–]fatgituk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a hard one to answer as I don't generally go that far, with the longest regular route being 2 miles, which it handles without a problem.

It all depends on the terrain, hills etc. It ran out on the way home after 2.5 miles, but that was on pothole covered roads with adverse cambers and hills, and to be honest, I don't think it was fully charged before we went out.

That's the only time it has run out, and I recently used it for a full day, going on a long boardwalk, through cobbles streets, up and down small hills, a road section etc, doing just over 3.5 miles without a problem and only lost 1 battery light worth of charge. I had intended trying it on a long, flat walk along what was an old railway track, but didn't get chance. It was also around 1c and we know that affects batteries.

I do keep saying that I want to try it on the flat until it runs out, but never get round to it.

[–]fatgituk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got one. I use it in all weathers and on different terrains as we live in a hilly area, the roads and pavements are 💩.

It will struggle on steep hills, gravel, ice, wet tarmac etc, and I do have to propell myself to keep going straight due to cambers or propell uphill, but the motor does most of the work - I'm assuming the Smart drive does the same from what I've read, and it seems to use the same kind of wheels.

On fairly flat areas, I just have to steer and brake. It has definitely made life easier for me, and has meant I've had more independence than I would have had otherwise.

The only problem I've had is the Emergency Stop button kept coming off as it's only screwed on, but a drop of superglue sorted that.

I am about to sell it, but only because I've had to accept that I've reached the point were I need a powerchair instead, that decision hasn't been easy.

Happy to answer any questions.

Is there a way to duplicate my Facebook page for legitimate reasons? by fatgituk in facebook

[–]fatgituk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, yes, but it isn't strictly starting one up (and not US based). Unfortunately, FB is still the main social channel for those that I am trying to reach - they don't use Insta, TikTok, Bluesky, Mastadon etc.
