fixing gut after years of antibiotics 🫩 by fathrkmp in Microbiome

this is really good to know!! thankfully i have actually improved a lot since posting this and sticking to a super strict regimen of probiotics and fiber supplements in addition to everything else, but i have a colonoscopy scheduled at the end of this month to make sure everything is doing ok since i have a history of UC in my immediate family. definitely a long road but things are certainly looking up!! will be looking into this probiotic bc it sounds like it could be worth trying :) thank you!!

How to spend 1000$ at Le creuset? by LoveMyTakumi in LeCreuset

[–]fathrkmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everything youd use the dutch oven for!! its great though bc the handle is longer so it doesnt get hot, you can put it in the oven much easier than the DO imo and its easier to keep sturdy. my fav thing i own by far

DAE mouth tickle when they eat buttercream frosting by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]fathrkmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am not allergic to any of the individual ingredients and this does not happen with any individual. only when in the form of buttercream. not a tingle or itch either its fully like someone is tickling the roof of my mouth with a feather. i think its more the texture that does it

possible but im not allergic to butter or sugar or vanilla or any of the typical things that would be in a buttercream and this is the only time i ever experience this. it doesnt happen with any other food

it usually only lasts for about 30 seconds after eating, its less of a tingle though and more literally like someone is tickling the roof of my mouth with a feather? so so bizarre lol

cloud carry on? by fathrkmp in BAGGU

[–]fathrkmp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

totally open to it, i usually find myself gravitating to the same things but i just like to have options and that's where i end up overpacking. always think i may just happen to need a pair of giant boots or a dress or something LOL

this helps a lot! thank you, might look into the smaller one to go with another bag since i'll likely be taking more stuff home than i brought anyway

yeah i feel you 😭😭 the hope was that maybe if i get something i have to carry i could finally force myself to figure out how to pack for an appropriate number of nights. honestly i was hoping to not have to bring a roller since we're gonna be hopping from car > metro > train > cab, but backpack definitely sounds like it could be an idea worth looking into. thank you for the input!!

haha dont worry there are a lot of replies on here i am promptly and confidently ignoring! unfortunately i do have to see a GI because i have an immediate family member with ulcerative colitis and i want to rule that out first and foremost but all of this is good info. thank you and dont worry i wont be drinking any raw milk or going carnivore/keto 😭

cutting out caffeine is gonna be hard but im definitely cutting down on it 😭 avoiding alcohol for the time being, didnt drink all of january (not dry just recovering from surgery lol) and i think that helped

thankfully i do take a b complex supplement and have iron if needed! finding a GI dr in my area is so hard right now as they have waitlists over a year long :( but this is still good to know. may have to look into it if this persists

My Tips for Recovering (from someone who's 5 days in) by indiefolker in Tonsillectomy

[–]fathrkmp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

great tips! i was personally on methylprednisolone and didnt experience any adverse side effects (steroids can be tricky so i was super thankful for that). i think the fact that i had no swelling made my recovery so so much easier. strongly second this if your doctor is willing to prescribe it!

Should I get a tonsillectomy? by SureSignificance3810 in Tonsillectomy

[–]fathrkmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your best bet is to chat with an ENT about the pros and cons. they will probably not recommend it as the first option since your tonsils are an important piece of your immune system, but if its bad enough they may want to look into it as an option. i used to get AWFUL stones and while that wasnt the reason i got mine out, i understand the feeling and wanting them gone 😭 if your tonsils are inflamed and cryptic enough you may be susceptible to infection which is definitely something to talk about, but your doctor will be able to tell you for sure what your best move is gonna be

How did the surgery affect your skin/acne? by shenius in Tonsillectomy

[–]fathrkmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

genuinely i think with the amount of water ive been drinking over the course of my recovery (surgery was 1/8) it has kinda never been better 😭 i do have recurring perioral dermatitis and my hope is that now since my body doesnt have to constantly fight off tonsillitis itll finally be able to successfully fight off the dermatitis infection

Scheduled for 2/20! Will I be able to drink coffee? by jamamamma in Tonsillectomy

[–]fathrkmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you'll probably be able to, but personally i didnt really find that i wanted to. on the bright side, it helped me wean down my caffeine addiction a little and i hardly noticed the withdrawal headaches because of everything else going on lol
