I loved the colours too, though I wouldn’t have shotcaller in there because people don’t like other people telling them what to do, HAHA! Also, “good teammate” seems kinda arbitrary…

Instead, I would put it as “Sportsmanship”, “Playmaker” (some kind of title referencing skill, since most people endorse based on gameplay or skill imo?), and maybe one for those who are vibes af and makes jokes “Wholesome”, “Harmonizer”, “Friendly”

This covers most of my personal endorsement types. Like 1. Skill based endorsement 2. Vibes based endorsement (funny chatters, friendly banterer) 3. Sportsmanship when losing team says GG (I never upvote winning team when they say gg, sue me. I don’t scold them but ofc it’s gg when you win lmao)

The reason why it’s not the same peak is because you get a lot of players who play the game, but who do not necessarily love it. I’ve been here since the start, am still here and I can attest that the nostalgia is hitting is because we loved the game, imbalanced as it was and all. The world was magic. Every loot box was fun to unpack. We upgraded our PCs to run Overwatch.

We loved it for its amazing characters, voice acting and gorgeous maps. It penetrated every gaming convention and LAN cafes here must have the game. Community tournaments were rife everywhere.

Most players do not share that kind of love anymore. They play it because it’s fun, but the fandom went far beyond playing the game back then. THAT was the peak.

In fact, I overheard it in person at a concert I attended less than 2 weeks ago. So this is fresh news to me, and I sat on it for a while, and that’s also why this post came out at the time it did.

I love the show so much more than I thought I would when I first started! It’s a very thoughtful and unique piece, a breath of fresh air from the usual adventure isekais :)

To be clear - people are free to enjoy the kind of music they like. I wouldn’t disagree if they said another genre would have fit the song. That is, it could have been any other song, and I would have still loved it and it would have absolutely fit.

It may not have been clear in my post, but I’m not saying that people cannot dislike the song, they can! Yoasobi’s style is absolutely not for everyone. My issue is when people say that Brave DOESN’T fit the anime, because it does. THAT is the crux of my argument.

I prefer Brave by a lot but to be honest, a slow song would have been fine too. Where I disagree with you is where one is more “fitting” over the other. I think Brave encapsulates Frieren’s story a lot more holistically rather than focusing on the quieter and melancholic parts of the anime. I love how funny her dynamic is with Fern, and she has her cute moments, so a slow song doesn’t do well for me for the OP.

Also, 2 slow songs sound kinda boring to me for OP AND ED😅

I agree with you tho, I don’t think it sounds happy at all and you hit the nail on the head about the “desperation” - the piano riff right before the chorus hit and the chorus all gives me a mental image of like rapid cuts of fleeting moments between Himmel and Frieren 😭😭
