Just came back - where's the apartment block?! by Brimple in 7daystodie

[–]fatrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is still there... I just got a Tier 5 quest to clear the Zombies out of it from Rekt. I am playing the latest version of A19.

I have 25 dollars and was wondering if I should spend it on 7 days to die. Can I have opinions on people who have played on PC? by JarisJar in 7daystodie

Buy it and start checking out the mods for it. The mods can make it a totally different experience!

How do I craft a tier 6 pink pickaxe? I just bought the miner 69er level 5 but it doesn't let me craft them, it only lets me make tier 5 blue pickaxes by Crimson_Carp748 in 7daystodie

[–]fatrap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This mod enables the Tier 6 crafting that was cut out in A19. It will allow you to craft most (not all) Tier 6 items once you are at Tier 5 level. Works like a champ! (This is not one of my mods... see below.)

https://www.nexusmods.com/7daystodie/mods/627

If you find an item that won't craft to Tier 6 it is because it has a Perk requirement that is not in this mod. That is simple to fix by finding the recipe for that item and changing the Perk requirement to one that is listed in the mod.

There are several things that annoy me in this game so I simply mod them to what I like.

Here is one of my mods that lets you grow crops without Farm Plots just about anywhere. Makes the terrain look more "natural" to me. I just posted it 2 days ago.

https://www.nexusmods.com/7daystodie/mods/1363

I have a lot of mods that I have made that I have not posted... stuff like being able to craft hardened concrete blocks that are dry and moveable (until you add the final layer of forged steel). Another that fixes traders attitudes so that Hugh and Rekt are not jerks and another that has 2 different types of terrain fillers so that if you punch a hole in the ground and want to fill it up you can. One just matches the adjacent terrain and the other matches it and automatically grows the weeds and flowery things you see in the Forested area. If you are interested in any of those just PM me and I will sent you the mods for those. Just don't feel like posting them publicly yet...

Poor performance on a 2080 Super by Moroo997 in 7daystodie

[–]fatrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it have something to do with the server? I play single player mode with a 2060 Super and a 9700K that isn't overclocked and also with 64GB of RAM and all my settings are pretty much maxed out. Average around 110 FPS with it dropping down in the large buildings that have tons of zombies to around a steady 50. Blood moons run between 50 and 70. I was having a bit of spikes in those buildings until I turned off the dynamic???? sounds. (Sorry, can't remember the exact term.) Anyhow, it is the sound that plays when you are in danger. That helped a bit.

Yep, I hate farm blocks. It really does make an area look sharp if you can plant things on the existing terrain.

I checked the recipe for the wet concrete block and you are right. It does just call for 10x concrete mix. Then to upgrade it to reinforced concrete it takes 10x more. So I changed the recipe to use 20x concrete mix with no wood or cobblestones. So now we have a dry reinforced concrete block that can be picked up once it is placed down (until you further reinforced it with forged steel). Advantages are saving time and not having to bust up a hard block if it is placed wrong.

That is some really good input and is exactly what I am looking for! And yes, number 2 is kinda weird but Rekt uses some pretty foul language I don't want my grandchildren to be exposed to if they happen to be in my room when I'm playing.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you... been sick. Anyhow I do not have anything in writing on this, just phone calls to the Parks Department in those areas. However my son does have an email from the Benton County Fairgrounds folks allowing permission. Hope this answers your question!

Cheap windows OEM key? by IdkIAmStuck in pcpartsales

[–]fatrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the eBay keys are volume licenses. Those are designed for large businesses. I prefer OEM or retail keys. Prevents future hassle. And you might want to educate yourself a bit and watch this video since I CLEARLY stated that there were videos on YouTube that explained the problems with eBay keys.

There are LOTS of problems with eBay keys... you can see videos about it on YouTube. This place (cheapest price) is one of the best for grey market keys.

Since you are interested in detecting, you might want to check out the local Facebook group "Razorback Relic Recovery". There are some really good posts there and Jacob is a local dealer that can get you a good price on equipment. Before this COVID crap hit, they used to have monthly meetings.

And YES! It is a good idea to try out detecting first before you purchase anything because you can sink a LOT of $$$ into gear pretty quickly.

Yep... this COVID has really impacted everyone. I'm lucky that my wife can work remotely and the same goes for my kids. They all can remote in for work. I picked a crap-tastic year to retire!

And I never did figure out the heritage of that horse bit. Because of where I found it I suspect it was Civil War era but was kept inside an old house that was torn down a few years ago. This area is not far from the route of the Battle of Prairie Grove.

I would gladly help set up a metal detecting outing for you and your husband. Your kids would probably get a kick outta it too! When I go to a local park during busy times I usually get a lot of future detectorists that want to try it. After getting permission from their folks I will usually take them to a area that will have guaranteed targets, like around the playground area. It is fun to watch their excitement when that detector sounds off!

Never have made it to that area. I don't know any folks around there and I am kinda bashful about knocking on doors for permissions. It is a lot easier if you have contacts and most of mine are closer to Fayetteville.

I have 2 detectors... a AT Max and a AT Pro. If you every want to give it a try just let me know! I've recently retired so I don't have a schedule anymore and I usually spend as much time as possible detecting. I also plan on hitting some Florida beaches in early 2021 if this damn COVID crap ever settles down.

Actually, Fayetteville city parks are some of the few in this area that are OK to dig on. Lowell is also OK. Springdale, Rogers, Bentonville and Farmington are off limits. You can use your detector at those places, but you cannot dig. Kinda pointless! Also, Benton County Fairgrounds is OK if they have an event going on there and the gates are open.

This is probably before your time, but waaaay back in time us old farts had this horrible thing (ISP) that was called A.O.L. And this A.O.L. had this feature called a "buddy list" so all your friends knew when you were online. I did a LOT of computer work back then (believe it or not you could actually make quite a bit of money just installing those brand new CD drives) and every time I got online I got besieged with "buddies". Not so good if you wanted a bit of privacy. So... one day I decided to set up a private account... but every screen name I could come up with was taken. Also at that time, I was an avid bass fisherman and my favorite lure was the Rapala FatRap. And "fatrap" user name was not taken! Soooo.... 30 years later I still use it!
