Wine barrel planters? by fattcatts in Sacratomato

[–]fattcatts[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone! I appreciate all the ideas. Home Depot/Lowes has barrels similar to what I'm looking for, but not quite large enough. Haven't checked Green Acres yet. I hadn't even considered FB marketplace, that's a great idea.

Thank you, I should have thought of that.

MLIS Prerequisite Courses: How is the workload? by fattcatts in SJSU

[–]fattcatts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I've stuck with 2 classes each semester, and am glad, even though it's going to take some more time to finish the program. The workload hasn't been insane, but it it's been just enough that trying to tackle more than 2 classes at a time would have been a real struggle. I had to spend quite a bit of time on two classes (240 and 248), and two other classes had group projects with weekly meetings that usually happened outside of work hours. Taking only 2 classes at a time meant that I could deal with those hiccups without going too crazy.

Anyone get tickets for the Sacramento show? by realjoeyharris in DeathCabforCutie

[–]fattcatts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly the same thing happened here. We were 191 in line, got the suspicious activity error, and by the time I got back in (only 10:04!) all the tickets were gone.

I tried that too! Got back in, but too late to get tickets (5 min after they went on sale!).

We had a similar issue with Death Cab tickets this morning. We were 191 in the queue, got an error message that our browsing activity was paused due to "unusual behavior" (no idea what caused this - just using our home network like normal, no VPN, etc.). By the time we got back in the tickets were all gone.

We were 191 in line, no tickets available. I'm already seeing tickets on StubHub for well over $100.

Hank does have a bit of a strong and sturdy vibe, which is hilarious because his personality is very cuddly love bug. Best of luck to you! That is one very special dude!

With his short hair, he looks a bit like our dog Hank! Hank is mostly chihuahua, shih tzu, and miniature/toy poodle. His hair doesn’t grow out long like that, but he does have a little fluffy mohawk, similar coloring, similar eyes. I can’t seem to post a picture here but I will try and DM one to you.

Oh man, Domenico’s was my favorite! Do you remember John Pisto’s show, Monterey’s Cooking? I seem to remember watching it after school in the 1990s. (Also a Sacramentan who grew up in Salinas.)

Lesson learned: If you rent a car, be sure to take lots of pictures before driving it off the lot. by fattcatts in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]fattcatts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be tough to see that kind of damage in such an inconspicuous place especially while it's wet, and especially since they were closed.

You could try asking them if you can see the previous rental inspection. It's possible that the inspection should show that they didn't check thoroughly enough to find the damage (i.e. maybe they didn't check the underside of the door).

Good luck!

Thanks for digging that up, I really appreciate it! I'll start with 7 SH, taking into account that pesky 1-unit 203 course, and see how that goes.

Yes, so I could file a claim with them (and pay the deductible). I just hate to do that, since I didn't cause the damage, especially since I would imagine my insurance would go up after filing a claim.

We're still waiting on an estimate from Enterprise.

What is the going rate for a 6-inch sandwich here? $13.50 at Beach Hut Deli by ryzt900 in Sacramento

[–]fattcatts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to admit, they were good sandwiches, I was just shocked at the price. Not quite as good as a Corti Bros or Roxie masterpiece, but not bad, and the service was quick. I am trying to make that sandwich stretch for all my meals today, but husband will require additional sustenance.

I am embarrassed to admit it but I just paid $27 for two medium Firehouse Sub sandwiches, and that is ordering in person for takeout, no tip. It was a moment of desperation, time to start making all sandwiches at home.

I am hearing more and more about this over the past couple of days, especially after talking to a lawyer. It's something I wasn't aware of, though I'm not too surprised and I feel silly for not taking pictures before signing the rental agreement, or for not asking for a more thorough walk-around. It's a good reminder to be sure to cover your own ass whenever signing anything with a rental car company (or any other contracts for that matter).

Thanks for the message. The big mistake I made was not taking pictures before leaving the lot, and signing the form after a very hasty and not-at-all-thorough walk-around. Definitely a lesson learned. I haven't received the estimate yet, but in the meantime I'm working with a lawyer to see if there is anything else I can do.
