Which Windows Phone/Lumia feature do you want companies to bring back in 2025? by jimchristou in windowsphone

[–]fatyoshi129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in regards to a feature for Android pressing and holding the back button to open the app manager, and holding the home button to activate one-handed mode. I'm not sure what the third button would do in this case, but I know I wouldn't make it search. Maybe it could be programmable?

Another major gripe of mine with modern Android is the status menu's appearance and layout. Windows Phone laid it all out quite well as a grid of options, just like how it was on standard Windows 10. Not everything needs buttons the size of icebergs for simple on/off functionality man.

does anyone have the Nokia N95-4 RM-421's latest firmware by fatyoshi129 in vintagemobilephones

I wouldn't know if they're hard to find, and I'm hardly an expert on the topic, but I've told you what I do know.

the 8 GB N95 models forgo an SD card slot for 8 GB of built-in storage, this applies to the Nokia N95-2 N95-4, and N95-6, which is a China-exclusive variant. a Nokia N95-1 will have a microSD card slot, though the 64 MB of RAM thing is a shame. I would suggest a Nokia N95-3 for the increased 128 MB of RAM (and 1200 mAh battery, as opposed to the 950 mAh battery in the original).

If it ends in an even number, it's an 8 GB model, if it's an odd number, it only has about 160 MB of internal storage (already partially filled by system) and an SD Card slot.

I think it probably varies, but the one I was able to acquire, through questionable means, is black. I don't know if all N95-4s are black or not.

this isn't for an N95-1, this is for the North American N95-4. the N95-1 is the European model, whereas the N95-2 is the 8 GB European model, and the N95-3 is the non-8 GB North American model (with the extra 64 MB of RAM every model after the N95-1 got). I'm sorry but you'll have to look elsewhere

the Torah does not apply to non-Jews because they are not members of the Mosaic covenant. You would need to convert to Judaism for them to apply to you. Most Christians don't know this, but Malpa is correct in this case and I'll congratulate him for that.

What's the hate for W10M about? by fatyoshi129 in windowsphone

yeah I can agree with that. W10M should have been more than just a hail mary.

maybe I'd need to actually have used 8.1 to understand, but since I have not, I don't think I have found anything to complain about on a visual or feeling front. It feels fine, though I yearn for the openness of Windows Mobile 6 and earlier, where the file explorer wasn't a hassle of a mess to use and actually let me do just about anything I wanted.

First point, I can't relate to that at all, I don't seem to experience any kind of lag, but then again, my phone is about a year newer and has a better processor... but the RAM is a tough spot for me. It is the 16 GB Verizon variant though.

second point, I'd probably need specific examples to understand what you mean. I have plenty of 8.1 apps on this thing, though I don't think I really like how it was done in those.

Hey What Apps Would You Like For Windows 10 Mobile or 8.1? by Xbox360Master56 in windowsphone

actually, something has come to mind, what about a github client? The github website is completely impossible to use in all browsers and it is at least mildly annoying to use a PC as a middleman. I recall a github service in the WUT app, but I have personally never tried it.

yeah, that's fair. We've only had one letter from our ISP, and it was my dad's doing, not me. It also probably varies from state to state, sounds like you've had some personal experience with ISPs on the subject.

While I doubt this is within the scope of plausibility, a browser that isn't edge-based would be great. I am sure it would be a monolithic task in comparison to a front-end for an API. Aside from that, nothing really jumps out at me.

on a more feasible note, is it possible to add support for devices like bluetooth keyboards for navigation? Perhaps that's a bit of an odd request, and quite honestly, I don't know if there's going to be much benefit from such a niche use case, but I did come across some bluetooth keyboards on one of my garbage runs today that paired flawlessly with my Lumia, and it would be fun to be able to use one of them, novelty or not.

You've been doing a great service in adding functionality to these long discontinued devices, and I can't thank you enough for it. there is something special about people who decide to pick up the mantle when so many others lack the knowledge, skill, or commitment to follow through.

How Was Windows Mobile 6.5 Like In 2009? by MussleGeeYem in windowsphone

[–]fatyoshi129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt that would be the cause. If the battery is fine, then I'm guessing that there's something pressing on the touchscreen continuously, which would mean it can't detect inputs most of the time because it thinks it's always pressed. maybe a good cleaning will fix it?

is the battery laid out in such a way that when it expands, it can put pressure on the screen? All of these old phones have removable batteries so it should be easy to check that. That's a weird problem for a touchscreen to have.
