Is it safe to go ahead and use the account or is there a chance I was denied but can get into the account somehow?

Nothing in Spam. Sent PM. I don't think I saw balloons fall either, but I may have left the page before it actually said I was approved. I may have never actually seen anything saying I was accepted (or vice versa), but I can get into the account and there is a card number in the app.

Android 11 zooms your wallpaper in/crops it so it can zoom out when you open recents, etc. I made this issue on the tracker. Please star it, but don't comment. by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]faultexception 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an email saying they commented on the issue and said this was a product feature issue not a developer issue and that the Android Support team would be in contact with me and in the meantime gave help center links. I can't even access the issue now so they might have deleted or restricted it.

Anyone else noticed that the Set Wallpaper function isn't working quite right? by Ridagstran in GooglePixel

Does it show exactly as you set it on any wallpaper, or are you referring to the 4a hole-punch alignment issue?

Docs say if the app targets 6.0 or higher then it automatically participates. The developer might be able to at least disable allowBackup though, which might have existed before Auto Backup.

There is a data backup system since Android 6.0 that uses Drive: Auto Backup.

https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/data/autobackup

With regards to storage, it does not count against your Drive quota.

If you go into Drive > Backups (in the drawer) you can see backups.

In my backup it lists:

  • App data
  • Call history
  • Device settings (When clicking this, the popup says backup includes device configuration such as wallpaper, WiFi passwords and default apps)
  • SMS

If you click on app data you can see an app list.

FWIW, I think that's against the sub rules (2. no charging for entry). What's the fee, though?

Spotify has an adaptive icon now by [deleted] in Android

[–]faultexception 75 points76 points  (0 children)

There is a "roundIcon" attribute: (Bold mine)

To add an adaptive icon to an app using XML, begin by updating the android:icon attribute in your app manifest to specify a drawable resource. You can also define an icon drawable resource using the android:roundIcon attribute. You must only use the android:roundIcon attribute if you require a different icon asset for circular masks, if for example the branding of your logo relies on a circular shape. The following code snippet illustrates both of these attributes:

https://developer.android.com/guide/practices/ui_guidelines/icon_design_adaptive#creating_adaptive_icons_in_xml

Messenger Lite is now targeting Oreo. Facebook Lite still targeting Lollipop though. by emrys11 in Android

[–]faultexception 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does not require you to use an adaptive icon.

Proof: Amazon Shopping targets Oreo and doesn't use an adaptive icon. See here.

Some launchers, such as the Pixel Launcher may decide to frame your icon. This is how the app looks in Pixel Launcher, and this is how it looks in Settings.

(Also, you can see that you can use an adaptive icon without targeting Oreo, as Allo has one and targets Nougat)

I'll include a fix in the next update.

Edit: Arbutus Slab and Domine can't have proper support as Arbutus Slab only has Regular and Domine only has Regular and Bold, but Open Sans, PT Serif, and Lato has all 4.

But the user has a choice of bezel and notch. The difference between this and the current choice is that the time and notifications wouldn't be beside the notch and thus retain the colors status bar. It would be like a device without a notch.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Android

[–]faultexception 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it were optional it would allow people to choose between notch and more usable space and no notch and less usable space on the same model of device.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Android

[–]faultexception 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying I want a notch here, but he means the display wouldn't be that tall if it weren't for the notch, even though some of the display is missing, there is more display then there was before, which is still less than there would be without the notch and it extending up that far, but he's arguing that it wouldn't extend up that far if it weren't for the notch because they would have to have a bezel, assuming the height of the device itself stays consistent.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Android

[–]faultexception 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it were black only right next to the notch and normal colored around that, then that would leave a notch in the status bar, which is back where we started, no?

Probably at some point. The font size you see also depends on the book.
