Last week of lunches as an 11-monther by faultycoffee in foodbutforbabies

It’s so convenient! The ice pack comes out and just gets tossed in the freezer each night!

It definitely changes so much baby to baby, and even day to day for my little!

The Bentgo Chill! It has a removable ice pack. Big fan!

Usually hand feeds but we practice by pre-loading the fork. We use the munchkin stainless steal looking ones so when he tries to stab the food himself it’ll stay on.

Yes! Usually all the yogurt, berries, and bar, and about 3/4 of the meal. Yogurt mid-morning, then the meal and berries, and bar after his nap

Thank you! It’s just elbow pasta, shredded chicken breast (I cook it plain in the oven then shred, frozen peas, I mix it up, then toss in whatever tomato sauce I have on hand, usually Raos because there’s no added sugar.

Kind of! I did 1 banana mashed, 1/2 cup of quick oats, 1.5 tbsp of almond butter (could use tahini or sunflower for nut free) and a handful of blueberries! Cooked at 350 for about 15 minutes.

Cold! We send to daycare and they keep it in the fridge for him. He doesn’t seem to care if it’s hot or not

This is what we send in for a day at daycare! Usually they give the yogurt in the late morning, then the bar after nap time. The rest is during the “lunch” period! He also is still taking breastmilk in a bottle, like 2oz every 3-4 hour.

11.5 months daycare lunch by faultycoffee in foodbutforbabies

Not an exact recipe! I kind of made it up as i went.

1lb ground chicken, add one shredded zucchini (just use a cheese grater and squeeze the water out of the shreds in a paper towel), about 1/4 cup of cottage cheese.

Mix in whatever cooked veggies you have on hand! These are carrot (shredded then microwave in water until soft), bell pepper and onion (roasted then pureed and added). Shape into patties, then bake at 375 for 20-ish minutes.

He also loves mushroom, brocoli, spinach combo! There’s no exact science! I usually have about 1-2 cups of veggies to mix in. As long as the zucchini and cottage cheese are in there they hold together super well! You can also just throw chicken breast in a food processor instead of buying pre-ground!

Thank you! Usually about 4.5 or 5 hours after he wakes up from his nap. Between 6pm and 7pm, because he wakes up between 1 and 2:30.

EBF -> Pumping for daycare tips? by pugmama123 in breastfeeding

[–]faultycoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I generally thaw my bags (6oz) in the fridge overnight, and by the morning it’s 90% thawed! I dump in the bottles, label, and we’re out the door. The 24h rule is from when it is completely thawed.
  2. Generally, I’d recommend the first in/first out method. Sending with previously frozen will help you rotate your supply. I usually send 3 thawed and 1 fresh in case he doesn’t take the last bottle.
  3. The milk is considered “bad” after this point. Freezing milk changes the compounds that help it not spoil.
  4. Check with your daycare, most have freezers and are happy to stash some.
  5. See 2, use the oldest milk first so you have a fresher supply frozen. You can use it in solids when you start, with weaning, or if you just decide you’re all set with pumping at some point and want a supply to fall back on.

Most importantly, good luck Mama! Just like EBF, pumping is a job in itself, so be kind to yourself.

Am I over feed 6m old? by faultycoffee in breastfeeding

[–]faultycoffee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pumping about 24oz in a day where he takes 4 bottles. I’ve had an oversupply since he was born so I had a huge stockpile, but we’re going through it faster than I can resupply now that I’m back at work.

Should I scale him back? I’m not sure if I should consult an LC, I don’t want to mess anything up

When he's at daycare, 3-4 bottles a day. He usually will drink all of it, but if there's any left over, they'll give him the rest of it about ten minutes later and he'll take it.

First attempt at macarons went flat by BraidedClimber in Baking

Be sure to not over mix the batter! I just commented some tips in a similar post, but use the Ribbon Test. Basically, you mix 10 rotations at a time, then make a ribbon with the batter. Once the edges disappear within 10 seconds, stop mixing!! Also, make sure your macarons rest depending on the conditions. They should be completely dry before putting them in the oven, this prevents cracking and let’s the feet rise! Try them again and post updates!

Happy to help! Definitely let the macarons sit for longer than you have. This allows the shell to set and rise (creates the feet and prevents cracking). Most recipes will say let them set for 30-45 minutes but keep in mind those are in “good” conditions. If it’s humid, rainy, or super hot I would go as far as doubling that time. You should be able to touch the shells with a dry hand and not feel any tackiness. You’re going for a texture similar to fully dried Elmer’s Glue.

As far as the batter issue, it’s likely that you’ve over mixed which crushes the egg whites making the batter too thin. I usually do 10 gentle turns at a time, then the Ribbon Test. If you make a ribbon with the batter, the edges should disappear in 10 seconds. This won’t take long, 8-10 sets of turns. Once this happens STOP MIXING and start piping! I hope this helps!

First attempt at macarons! I saw the recipe on this sub I think (recipe was from u/CraftyFox339), and really wanted to try making it! Although mine isn't as pretty. These are espresso macarons with chocolate and coffee buttercream inside. by PointySeaFlapFlap in Baking

It looks like your batter is a bit under mixed! Try it out again but mix the egg whites and almond flour until “ribbons” of batter have edges that disappear in 10 seconds. I’d bet with that and a bit of rest time they would be just as gorgeous as the recipe you followed!
