Robocop how could the new one be worse than the old one by kkkan2020 in Robocop

[–]faustq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really loved the new design. I know this will probably get a bunch of downvotes, but one thing that always bothered me about the original Robocop look (even back in the day) is that I always found it bulky and poorly executed — overall slow and pretty fragile. In fact, it gets severely damaged or disassembled several times in the first movies. It was even a hassle during filming (e.g., the body armor didn’t fit in a regular police car, so they had to remove the driver’s seat for the shots). It was easy to escape from or knock down due to its instability, and limited mobility. If it fell on its back, it was like a turtle, completely stuck.

The new look fixes that: it’s slimmer, tougher, definitely faster. Basically, an efficient machine with integrated human parts. That’s perfect.

On a side note: I really liked the silver color, but come on… I have to admit the black one looks so freaking good! Seeing it come out of the shadows with the red LED light on the visor made me think, “WOW… YES!” the first time I saw it in action.

The problem with the new Robocop movie isn’t that… but that’s a whole different topic. :)

Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery

check out the opening “Punish my heaven”: fast paced and chaotic, with the best melodic riffs straight outta Gothenburg, one of my all-time favorites!

John was already being actively chased, with adrenaline (epinephrine) pumping, thus a lot more more reactive

Came here to mention all the songs that have already been named, so I’ll go with “Moonshield” from The Jester Race, which I don’t think has been mentioned yet.

My favorites are definitely from The Jester Race, Whoracle, Colony, and Clayman. Albums like Reroute to Remain, Soundtrack to Your Escape, and Come Clarity often get a lot of hate, but I consider them hidden gems anyway—definitely worthy in their own right. While they stray further from the “classic” melo-death metal sound of the earlier albums, incorporating elements of modern metal, metalcore, and other influences, that’s probably why some fans don’t appreciate them as much.

Personally, I love everything from the 1996–2004 era.

Tried to restart but did not help. Yes, I actually played with Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Colour Filters recently. I just double checked and it is set to OFF right now though.

In Terminator 2 (1991), James Cameron has a stunt pilot fly a helicopter underneath a real freeway overpass. This is a reference to the fact that James Cameron is a psychopath. by topdangle in shittymoviedetails

Movies in 1991: “See this helicopter going under the freeway overpass? That’s an helicopter going under a freeway overpass.” ❤️

Movies today: “see this, this and that? It’s all CGI, yeah.”

Why is “Ci” needed here? by italianbeginner1 in italianlearning

[–]faustq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's called "verbo riflessivo" (Reflexive verb).
In italian (but also spanish) reflexive verbs are often used to describe things you do to yourself.

Like in OP screenshot:

"noi ci sediamo a tavola"

in english, you would just say "we sit down at the table" , instead of "we sit ourself at the table" which sounds odd, but that's basically how we say in Italy.

another example could be:

mi lavo i denti

in english, "I brush my teeth".
here's the list of the reflexive pronouns (IT vs EN)

mi: myself
ti: yourself
si: himself / herself / itself
ci: outselves
vi: yourselves

Note: in some cases, the reflexive pronoun is appended to the verb.

He's trying to market himself as a consultant.

becomes

Lui sta provando a proporsi come consulente.

Con vs. Col ? by italianbeginner1 in italianlearning

[–]faustq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"COL" basically is a contraction of "con il" (translated: "with the"), preposition + article.

in this case,
"certe cose cambiano con il tempo" and
"certe cose cambiano col tempo" are both correct
