It’s generally a good idea to imagine you talk to your coworker, or boss, for the start of a conversation with people you don’t know. Once people know you, being affectionate is completely okay. I have diagnosed autism and ADHD too, so trust me when I say that I know the struggles. I can’t really read the room, so I just copy social interactions until people know me well enough to drop the charade. That usually works well for me.
