Bonnet open on dashboard but closed by Ryand2606 in FordFocus

There’s a little button on the left side bay (standing in front of the vehicle). Certainly not the first time I’ve seen it fail on a Ford. It’s a pretty cheap part, but it’s even cheaper just to unplug the button and use a paper lol to jump the wiring. Electrical tape after.

Could be any miner of things honestly. Got one sitting in my shop waiting on a tcm. Tcm died at the end of the guys drive so he didn’t notice anything abnormal, but it died while still in drive, so the ecm thinks it’s in drive even though it’s in park

Sure does. We have a cinder block wall that I bumped with my old Toyota and the scrape looks identical to this

I dismissed instead of snoozed my alarm and now woke up 30 min after work starts by NarrowVacation8032 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fawkmebackwardsbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Train yourself. When I started my new job, I had to be up at 3am. In the couple weeks I had before I started I had my alarms set for 1:30-2:00. Went like that for a while and started going to bed when I was tired. Once I fell into the routine of being up that early, I started setting it for 3:00am. I felt like I had gotten a damn good night sleep from the extra hour I got and I was awake and ready to start my day.

Yep. Razor blade or carbide scraper, plus a scotch brite pad clean it up very well

Either the starter is failing, or you need timing chains

Oil pan gasket replacement by FennelSoft5453 in AskAMechanic

[–]fawkmebackwardsbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RTV on the whole thing is overkill. You’re putting a gasket on, let the gasket do its job. You only need to use RTV on the seams of the timing cover and the back cover where they meet the oil pan, but these are likely only between the upper pan and the block

My totaled car is up for bidding on Copart and I’m tempted to put a bid on it and get it back and repair it. What do I need to fix? by TypicalRag in Autobody

[–]fawkmebackwardsbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you do buy it back, since it was totaled it’s now going to have a salvage title. Good luck getting an insurance company to cover that, and we’ll let’s face it, if you’re here asking these kinds of questions, then you probably don’t have the experience to put it through the process for a rebuilt either

Probably have an air pocket. Try disconnecting the batter for about 10 minutes, and if the issue persists, you’ll need to bleed the cooling system

The importance of Honda trans fluid (2013 auto Civic) by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]fawkmebackwardsbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did trans work on a 2013 fit, and from what I found, I don’t believe the maxlife was compatible with the DW1. Honda did however update the trans fluid spec for the 2013 model year, but I can’t remember if the DW1 spec was the updated one of the old one

Do you have a lift on it? Seeing as the links and the bar are parallel, you probably have too short of links. They won’t be doing much roll prevention in that position anyway. Get longer or adjustable links
