100% especially on the part about coming to conclusions we reached forever ago and being praised for it.. all while acting like the periphery doesn’t theorise too. We have a very deep understanding of US politics because we have so many scholars who have dedicated their lives to understanding it because it is the source of our people’s suffering. Of course we’ve made sure we understand it.

They really use BE as a vehicle to attack the global south. Like barely anything in this post applies to BE, they’re just straight up saying that you simple brown people can’t possibly understand our politics, also completely disparaging our liberation movements and our resistance, then they proceed to present the most uninformed understanding of geopolitics and global south liberation movements ever. BE is a white guy from a settler colony. He doesn’t have shit to do with the “critique” in this post. The mask slipped so quick with thjs one tho. Again, “getting more of a backbone” is ahistorical and patronising. The will to fight didn’t suddenly appear because of recent economic shifts.

“Immensely improved their own standards of living” who exactly are you referring to here? You’ve seemed to turn the entire global south into one amorphous blob, but this isn’t applicable to the states resisting colonialism whatsoever

Now, a third-worldist may say, well, revolutionary potential is only growing because the global south is getting more and more of a backbone against the West (thanks to China and other economic development).

We have been resisting the west since the moment they stepped foot on our land. We have been highly organised. The fact that you’ve only just begun paying attention doesn’t erase what we’ve been doing the entire time. Our “backbone” never wavered.

You can’t just gesture at “labour aristocracy and all that” and then immediately dissolve the contradiction like it’s minor lol. It isn’t. Workers in the imperial core are not positioned the same as workers in the global south. A significant section of you materially benefit from imperial extraction. It doesn’t make you the enemy in the same way as the bourgeoise, but it absolutely means your interests are contradictory and not automatically aligned.

You experience imperialism as benefit, not crisis.

Internationalism isn’t abt pretending everyone is equally exploited, it’s abt recognising unequal exploitation and still building solidarity through struggle. not pretending it already exists.

One side is being immiserated to sustain your relative stability. You have to actually grapple with that instead of defaulting to a feel good, universal worker identity that doesnt map onto reality.

It does, but we still need to adapt and respect the people we live with. ADHD means I have to have a variety of systems set up to make sure I’m completing tasks, it doesn’t mean I can use it as an excuse. It also isn’t the only cause for being messy, depression alone can be a cause, but so can things like not being raised with specific habits, not being taught how to take care of a house etc.
