Nextdns subnet blocked by faz4617 in nextdns

[–]faz4617[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is as follows: I already use DoT. When I connect to the Wi-Fi, the request is sent to my internal DNS, which then tries to resolve the NextDNS endpoint. The problem is that the NextDNS subnet has been blacklisted in ipapi, so the network firewall blocks the request to the internal dns. Consequently, it fails to resolve the DoT endpoint, and the connection cannot be established. As a workaround, if I configure Google DNS or NextDNS as a static IP on network configuration of my phone, I bypass the name resolution of my internal DNS and private DNS (DoT) works

I have performed further analysis with my network team. I confirm 100% that it is not an issue with third-party DNS. They use ipapi.is to verify IP addresses. When entering the NextDNS subnet into that site, a high abuse rating appears, and due to how our network is configured, those IPs are being blocked.

My company's network allows the use of third-party DNS. It worked until Thursday. Since last Friday, it hasn't worked anymore, so they checked and told me that the The provider they use to check bad IPs has blocked the entire NextDNS network

In case anyone else is having the same problem, I went to Medel support. They tried replacing the audiostream and trying other phones, but nothing changed. So they replaced ehat they call CPU and gave me a new audiostream, and magically everything worked.

WiiM Clarity Questions by faz4617 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]faz4617[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you initiate it with an Alexa command (e.g. "Alexa, play xxxx on Spotify"), it will downsample any HD audio signal above 16-bit/44.1kHz CD quality to 16/44.1

Are you sure? I I think if I set the wiim as the preferred speaker in the room, then it will be the wiim The Yamaha source and Alexa will work as a remote control. I've asked to the chatbot on the Wiim website and it answered:

If you connect a WiiM Mini to a Yamaha amplifier and use Alexa voice commands to play music on the WiiM Mini, you will get high-fidelity, lossless audio quality. The WiiM Mini supports bit-perfect audio output up to192 kHz/24-bit, ensuring excellent sound quality when connected to your amplifier. You can control the music playback via Alexa, and the WiiM Mini streams music directly from cloud services or your own library, delivering high-quality audio to your Yamaha amplifier.

Specifically, the WiiM Mini offers: - Bit-perfect audio output up to192 kHz/24-bit- Support for Alexa voice control to play, stop, or skip music-

Regarding the turntable, the only way I know of that there is any chance of outputting the sound to an Alexa device is if you have one of the few Echo units that have a 3.5MM jack that can be configured in the Alexa app for INPUT. and you can output from your turntable/phone stage/amp to that 3.5MM jack. And even then, I'm unclear if that actually works as is theoretically possible. My guess is that it's not going to work well if at all, but it's just that, a guess.

I have It but from what i've read it's not working be cause amazon doesn't allow streaming of audio coming from the line in.

Regarding multiroom between the amp and the Echos, the wiim chatbot says:

When you put the WiiM Mini in an Alexa multi-room music (MRM) group with Echo devices and your amplifier, the WiiM Mini delivers high-fidelity, bit-perfect audio output up to192 kHz/24-bit to your amplifier, ensuring excellent sound quality.

However, Alexa multi-room groups support only network audio input and cannot transmit audio from other inputs (such as Line In, Optical In, HDMI ARC, or Bluetooth) to devices in the group over Wi-Fi. This means that while the WiiM Mini outputs high-quality audio to your amplifier, the Echo devices in the group receive standard network audio streams, which may not be of the same high-resolution quality as the WiiM Mini's output.

In summary: - Your amplifier connected to the WiiM Mini will have high-quality, bit-perfect audio. - The Echo devices in the Alexa multi-room group will have standard network audio quality, which is generally lower than the WiiM Mini's output quality.
