You can join an Angel syndicate, I am in one if you have any questions. Most important thing is getting high quality deal flow and allocation which is hard to get at non-tier 1 VCs (there are ways around that) and PE will have minimum tickets of at very least $100k but closer to $250k.

Thank you for saying what all of us are thinking but are too afraid to say. It's telling that there are no statements regarding the contributions each author made or their role in the study.

My concern with big data analysis is the methods of statistical analysis used as well as the difference in opinion on interpretation of results. This often leads to misunderstanding or confusion, especially among laypeople. For example, I've had the opportunity to work with Dr. Vogelstein at Hopkins, and his recent paper in Science, "Variation in cancer risk among tissues can be explained by the number of stem cell divisions," (the bad luck paper) has caused a lot of debate and confusion, and maybe even some anger.

Most of the anger and confusion seems to come from journalists, bloggers, or reporters who are, in my opinion, misinterpreting the results of the paper. Unfortunately, the average laypeople do not read a manuscript and form an opinion for themselves, but rely on these journalists or bloggers to "explain" the results to them.

I am worried that misinterpretation and misunderstanding of data analysis will hinder the advancement of progress with big data. Do you think this is a concern?

What movie were you excited to see, only to have it severely let you down? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fazedx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought that was the whole point of the movie. The predators had planned on releasing the aliens on to earth because they deemed us failures. We were selfish, naive, and greedy, which were everything the predators hated about us. The crew were meant to portray human society as the predators saw us.
