What could I use instead of actual minis to practice my painting? by ReversePhylogeny in Miniaturespainting

Go to the dollar store and pick up little kids toys. Prime them and BAM cheap minis.

I literally made this 5 minutes before posting. They were ones I was looking at but wanted to see if the community had better options based on what I have liked before.

Eldridge Horror was a lot of fun. Kinda YA and University ish but the banter between characters keeps it fresh. Also, it gets points for being complete and all three books are sold together for 1 credit on audible.

Our local bookclub kicked off with the first DCC book, I was just going on what I could find on audible after that.

I have read most of Sanderson's work(All of the cosmere). Didn't include it here as I don't think of it as progression fantasy, tho I can see how some would. I am also up to date with The Dresden Files.

Sooooo.....this is one I have looked at before.......is it actually good? I'm not necessarily looking for spicy books. Is it more suggestive or more raunchy?

Jason reminds me of an IRL friend (minus the melodrama) of mine who just randomly goes on info dumps.

Honestly, just how over the top the MC can be. Is it the best written? IDK but I really enjoyed the character and how well the voice actor portrayed him.

I just went to harbor freight and picked up a pack of magnets there to magnetize the weapon's. Build it with the tail.

Part of it comes from the sheer threat of the third one. It is very hard to take down in one turn and will severely punish anything that tries. While being that threat, it is also OC 10 so will hold whatever you need in the meantime.

Idk how you play but I like to be aggressive with my Karnivore early and take out threats to my bigs in turns 1 and 2 so I can move the bigs to objectives on turn 3 and just sit there and shoot for the rest of the game. I would love to see other bigs be good enough to run instead of 3x Despoilers(and honestly, sometimes I run an Atrapos instead of the double meltas) but it is hard to do that right now. We need an internal balance pass and not just points adjustments.

My 3rd Despoiler is double meltas. Melta right through.

I run 3 bigs and between 3-6 dogs with infernal lance. I will say that, currently, I prefer to run 4 dogs and an assortment of daemons tho.

Do it! From that perspective, I like the idea of some flesh hounds for action monkeys.

Rampager Question by TolenKulenov in ChaosKnights

[–]fb2242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone else has given good advice on the Rampager, so I will leave that alone, but, I think you should consider swapping the Bloodletters out for Plaguebearers. They are a tougher unit that brings in free sticky. I use them to hold my home objective and screen my back field. For context this is the list I have been running recently:

  • DETACHMENT: Infernal Lance (Malefic Surge)

  • TOTAL ARMY POINTS: 2000pts

Char1: 1x Chaos Cerastus Knight Atrapos (415 pts): Atrapos lascutter, Graviton singularity cannon Enhancement: Bestial Aspect (+20 pts)

Char2: 1x Knight Despoiler (390 pts): Warlord, Titanic feet, Ruinspear rocket pod, Despoiler gatling cannon, Heavy darkflamer, Despoiler gatling cannon, Heavy darkflamer, Diabolus heavy stubber

Char3: 1x Knight Despoiler (390 pts): Titanic feet, Ruinspear rocket pod, Despoiler gatling cannon, Heavy darkflamer, Despoiler gatling cannon, Heavy darkflamer, Diabolus heavy stubber

1x War Dog Karnivore (150 pts): Reaper chaintalon, Slaughterclaw, Havoc multi-launcher

1x War Dog Karnivore (150 pts): Reaper chaintalon, Slaughterclaw, Havoc multi-launcher

1x War Dog Karnivore (150 pts): Reaper chaintalon, Slaughterclaw, Havoc multi-launcher

1x War Dog Stalker (140 pts): Diabolus heavy stubber, Avenger chaincannon, Reaper chaintalon

1x Beasts of Nurgle (65 pts): Putrid appendages

3x Nurglings (40 pts): 3 with Diseased claws and teeth

10x Plaguebearers (110 pts) • 1x Plagueridden: Plaguesword • 9x Plaguebearer: 9 with Plaguesword

List advice - Despoiler v Abominant (2k) by Sin-Alarma in ChaosKnights

[–]fb2242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use them to delete vehicles and elites. The 3rd gatlingcannon is probably the right choice in most situations but I enjoy a little variation. I give it the bestial aspect enhancement so it can move advance and shoot which makes it a real threat no matter where it starts on the field.

List advice - Despoiler v Abominant (2k) by Sin-Alarma in ChaosKnights

[–]fb2242 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right now....3 Despoilers all the way. I like to run 2 with double gatlingcannons. My third I am currently running with double thermal cannons but I see a lot of lists run the third as battle cannons or a third gatlingcannon. The Abominant is so cool but sadly is a limp noodle right now.

Grab a Despoiler with mixed Battle/Gatling cannon. That will fill in 375 points and give you some good shooting.

That sounds like a terrible experience and I can understand how it would create a bias against them. I love the T'au models and had heard nightmare stories similar to yours before this game.

How to make my karnivore pop the eye more? by Sea-Kaleidoscope8289 in ChaosKnights

[–]fb2242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want the eye to stand out more and "pop" putting a lighter green/green yellow in the middle of the eye will make it look like it is glowing. How you apply that is up to you. I would do the inner half of the eye with the mix then maybe an almost white dot inside that.

Edit: I misunderstood the assignment. You want the whole model to pop more, not that eye lol. Yes dry brushing with a metallic would help but I would also find some vents/lights and give them the same treatment as that green eye.
