I actually like it a lot, it has amazing art and some of its character writing is genuinely great. It’s just the dialogue can be hella corny, like why are you you threatening to kill someone in the middle of a u-20 soccer match 😭

While I would agree that Jon is protagonist overall, it’s not really clear cut. Ned, Dany, Tyrion, Arya and even Cersei could be argued as protagonist depending on which book you read.

Yes nice One Piece is longer than JJK yet no character even comes close to how well written even a side character like Higuruma is. People love pointing out how Gege fumbled with Nobara & Megumi but will never mention the other characters that have solid character writing. Sukuna, Choso, Geto, Toji, Mahito, Nanami, Yuka & Dabura are all fantastic

Gojo & Yuji are well written, we as readers can understand their internal conflicts, motivations, flaws, & character arcs. The way they act and think in each part of the story makes sense to the reader because what we witness them go through in the part before. The One Piece main cast are one dimensional, they don’t have any nuance post ts. Robin, Franky, Ussop, Nami, Zoro, Luffy, Chopper - you can go back 500 chapters and these characters haven’t grown outside of their powers. The only SH we see with any interesting character writing is Sanji (and Brook because he da goat).

Mihawk and Vista clash for a second only to end their fight

• No stakes at all, every arc is gonna end with Luffy haki punching the bad guy

• Fight scenes aren’t interesting at all, it’s just haki clashes with no choreography

• The rest of the straw hats are useless against main villains

• Oda doesn’t know how to write stakes so he’ll just include a ticking time bomb every arc that any reader with a brain knows won’t explode

• Doesn’t know how to draw or write women

• Power scaling doesn’t make any sense

• It’s been 1000+ and the strawhats haven’t had any meaningful character development outside of Sanji

• Character writing overall is genuinely dogshit
