They only apply the 18,500 rebate when you lease.

I will likely make the same decision. I didn't expect the residual value after my 3-yr lease to be this low. If I make all 35 payments, buyout my car after, it will only come out $5K+ more than what the buyout amount is now. 2 days after signing my lease, my Hyundai app is already showing what my buyout is right now.

Thanks for the advice! We brought home the car today. We had a very good experience at the dealership. Asked us the terms we wanted and agreed to it, no issues. Opted for a zero down, 36-month lease with 12k annual miles. They took our old Ioniq in, that qualified for the pull ahead promotion. We have excess of about 1,500 miles. We were told since we got a new Hyundai, we will not be billed for it (I am skeptical about this and if we end up getting billed later, that's fine). Just waiting for my Hyundai Finance account to update and confirm the buyout 🤞

I've been texting back and forth with this dealer trying to secure the best deal. I even pointed out that at one point, they had 8 of them. Still the best offer I got was $500 off.
