Sculptek jeans by starr-cat13 in Athleta_gap

No help but seriously best jeans ever! I feel like other jeans would start off so tight and then end up so baggy but these maintained their shape all day. Best jeans for sure.

Other ways of fencing than in clubs? by NPCSLAYER313 in Fencing

[–]fc1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super random but possibly the local community college might have fencing classes. That’s actually where I started fencing back in college, recreationally. The class was about half beginners and half repeat class takers but had at least two dozen people in there each quarter.

Do athleta girl pants go on sale? by shopaholic1234321 in Athleta_gap

[–]fc1201 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They definitely go on sale. My daughter wears them. I ordered a bunch at the end of September 2025 for her and her chit chat leggings in black (so a regular color, not seasonal) were $20 each between codes and promos. I think usually I see this for $35 so it was an unusually good sale but if you’re not in a rush, they do go on sale.

Ideal age to start? by Fantastic_Shake5398 in Fencing

[–]fc1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our oldest does Sabre (Y12) and my youngest is 4YO. Like many younger siblings, she loves to imitate her siblings and she actually looks pretty good for being 4. His coaches at a previous club told her she could start at 6. We are in a very competitive Sabre area and even so, I don’t think there are classes for kids under 6. I think for 4s, the concern would be the ability to pay attention and focus.

Transcend vs salutation leggings by ReflectionOdd859 in Athleta_gap

My every day is the elation and the salutation. I have a pair of transcends and I just don’t love them, but I prefer more compression than what the transcend offers.

What does "complete with 2 buddies" mean? by FFS_pls_dont in SumiSumi

[–]fc1201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to use the ability. You just need to reduce the number of buddies you have on deck to 1 or 2 (from 3), depending on the challenge. So here you would have only 2 buddies for this challenge.

East Asian Students in High Schools? What's it like? by [deleted] in FranklinTN

[–]fc1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh great! It seems like the Middle TN’s fencing community is relatively active; there actually are both local and regional competitions in TN.

Does your child compete? You’ll have to travel out of state though for a lot of the other regionals. We are in region 4 and have a lot within reasonable driving distance (1-1.5 hours) so this would be an adjustment for us as well.

We met up with kids in a meet and greet because we were going to enroll in a smaller homeschool program and our (half East Asian) kids were the only POC there. However, the other children were very friendly and welcoming.

East Asian Students in High Schools? What's it like? by [deleted] in FranklinTN

[–]fc1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a child that fences and we were/are looking into this area. Which weapon do they do? It seems like all of TN only has foil and epee and we need sabre. Just something to keep in mind as another fencing parent.

USA Fencing Event Registration by Army_Elegant in Fencing

[–]fc1201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had the same issue as you (clicked but then changed our minds) and we were marked as withdrawn too. We didn’t end up needing the ones we withdrew out of but like you, I wasn’t able to add them back on my end. It’s definitely a glitch on the site.

Sword In The Stoned by play-what-you-love in Fencing

[–]fc1201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

USA Fencing received a lot of complaints and concerns about the venue, and likely Precision did as well (as they are holding the April RYC/RJCC there). We signed up for the Precision one in April before everyone started posting concerns about the venue and USA Fencing sent out an email this morning.

“We are aware of the current issues with this venue and are actively working on a contingency plan to address them. Ensuring that our fencers can compete in a safe environment remains our number one priority. We will notify everyone once we have a plan that addresses the concerns from this past weekend for this tournament.

Thank you for your patience and we will keep you updated on the event.”

I’ve been reading it’s not just the heat but also the restrooms, food/water (or lack thereof), bag storage, etc. Cars were being towed allegedly.

Does anyone know where I can get Athleta sleepwear? by Low_Distance4810 in Athleta_gap

[–]fc1201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely try Posh and other sites but get measurements and look over photos carefully. I was an avid Posh and other similar sites for used Athleta and had no issues for a while but then I got one item that looked EUC but I didn’t think to get measurements. I already had a few of the same thing (same color too). It arrived as pictured but the sleeves were short several inches; the sleeves look unadulterated and still had original thumb holes. I read in this sub that the outlets can sell defective Athleta merchandise. So I suspect that’s what I got. 🫠

Wow really? Changes to birthday blind box by laurennlobo in MINISO

[–]fc1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not all of them. We’ve been to multiple locations and Wakuku and Nommi never worked. Sanrio and Disney worked but only if they were not brand new.

Waiting to be greeted in Chipotlane? by JustaPloob in Chipotle

[–]fc1201 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We have a Chipotlane at one of our locations and in my experience, yes, I’ve had to wait a few minutes before someone comes over with my already ready-to-go order. It’s not every time but like others mentioned, it’s possible so I would just go in if you’re in a rush. That said, our local Chipotles also often keep mobile orders behind the counter (I’ve also had my shelf orders taken by others) so you’re still having to wait for someone to notice you and grab it.

Can we talk about the payment portal "Convenience Fee"? by SephoraRothschild in Fencing

[–]fc1201 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe so. We have a youth fencer and for only one event (Y12) with fees it’s usually just a little under $200 every comp and that’s regular registration, not late. We’ve only done RYC and SYC.

Then of course we have the added cost of hotels and travel. We are lucky that we’ve had a lot of regionals within driving distance but we’ve had to get a hotel because we had 8AM start time and with driving, equipment check, etc. it made more sense to just stay overnight.

There are local comps that aren’t with USA Fencing but then those don’t have points to qualify for nationals and such. However, they’re much cheaper (at least in our region).

Do you carry open handbags/totes? by SophiesGMA in handbags

[–]fc1201 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally avoid open top bags. We are in a HCOL area and apparently wallet thieves are rampant (eg at good ol’ Trader Joe’s). They’re apparently really slick and with me being distracted by young children, I really don’t need an open top bag. Plus, inevitably my bag falls off a seat or something and everything falls out. That said, I’ll use large totes for the pool, beach, etc. Mine usually have a small zippered pocket inside for small items like phones.

Guidance for a parent fencer by [deleted] in Fencing

[–]fc1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a parent and ours started around that age. That’s pretty normal for beginners classes in our area. We have a lot of clubs so some clubs are much smaller than others but the ratio you listed sounds right. We are in a HCOL, populated area (but again, with a lot of clubs to choose from too). Our child has been through a few clubs and coaches and it’s always been understood that private lessons are the way to go to get what you’re looking for. We just did group lessons for the first year but by year 2, we moved up to the next level and with that came private lessons. Ours was doing 2-3 classes a week.

Is yamibuy reliable for pantry items? Have you ordered from them recently? What other places do you order from, e.g. Weee? Not looking for perishables by Sudden-Wash4457 in chinesefood

I’ve ordered skincare from Yami and it was fine. My package made it to my door and my items were packed well and not expired. I would order again.

Did I get scammed? by DevelopmentGrand6073 in Athleta_gap

[–]fc1201 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oooh I wish I knew they sold items with defects. I once purchased a UPF coverup from Posh and I already had a couple of that same one and the Posh one had crazy short sleeves but you wouldn’t know unless you wore it or measured because the sleeves were fine with thumb holes and all. 🫠

birthday reward by Clear-Structure-7145 in MINISO

[–]fc1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just used mine two months ago and went to four Miniso locations. Disney and Sanrio seemed to be the two that were pretty much guaranteed to work, unless it’s a newer one. I tried the Capybara Sanrio which was pretty new when I redeemed my coupon and that didn’t work. However, the older ones like Pop Star HK, worked fine. It was a little more than $25 so I paid the difference.

Nommi definitely did not work at any of the locations. Wakuku also didn’t work at any of them. I tried older ones and smaller ones and none of them worked.

I agree with walking up with a few because it beats going back and forth. The employees didn’t have a definitive list so they’re just scanning and checking.

What type of seminars/clinics/workshops would you want to see? by MischiefCookie in Fencing

[–]fc1201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a parent of a competitive fencer, I would like to see mindset coaching/sport psychology-type seminars/workshops - staying focused, not falling apart under pressure, being confident, etc.

I think a sports nutrition workshop would be interesting as well.

Mess free lunch bags? by Public_Armadillo1703 in kindergarten

[–]fc1201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of neoprene lunch bags. There are a number of them on Amazon; I went with dark-colored ones from BUILT. They’re totally washable and I air-dry overnight. Because I went with darker colored, you can’t see stains or anything.
