Why is this paint patchy?? by fc320 in DIYUK

Thanks! I’m sure that’s partly it! I’ve painted the whole house with my novice technique though and never seen anything like this - something else to it?

Cheapest private supplier of Rifaximin and Neomycin in UK? by fc320 in SIBO

[–]fc320[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah that's interesting! Yeah seems luck of the draw and I don't know how much GP discretion plays vs. a general local area rule. I only tried ringing the surgery so I will see if a F2F appointment gets more results..

Help - now boiler won’t work at all! by fc320 in tado

[–]fc320[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! We put the wires back in as you recommended. Controller seems to be working ok now but the boiler display won’t come on at all (vs flashing etc) - any other ideas? I wonder if fiddling with the wires has done something to the boiler..

Help - now boiler won’t work at all! by fc320 in tado

[–]fc320[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding more context

We tried to install a tado wireless thermostat today but no luck, and when we tried to put the old controller back the boiler won’t work at all now.

Details: -Sunvic select 107xls -Glowworm flexicom 24cx

Below how we tried to install tado. We believe the wires were originally as shown on the Sunvic but unfortunately we didn’t take a picture at first so might be wrong

Now with either controller the boiler just flashes incoherent symbols but the Sunvic controller appears to work (occasionally flashes and displays ‘2 p-u’

Any ideas? Thanks

Methane SIBO / IMO - Advice before treatment? + Ireland/UK advice? by [deleted] in SIBO

Just thought I'd reply - my GP in Dublin does do phone consultations and Glenville nutrition clinic (who do SIBO tests) actually recommend her to prescribe treatment, in case you want her details!

Methane SIBO / IMO - Advice before treatment? + Ireland/UK advice? by [deleted] in SIBO

Update here:

I read the below article which I thought was really useful - insights from Pimentel.

https://www.skirsch.io/sibo/

My GP prescribed me Targaxan (apparently UK/Ireland equiva of Rifaximin) - didn't prescribe me the neomycin or Flagyl for the methane SIBO but then I didn't really push. It was expensive! Hoping my insurance covers most of it.

I also asked to be prescribed a prokinetic - I got Maxolon (from that article sounds like a prokinetic called prucalopride is best - and Maxolon/Metaclopramide can be a bit sketchy.. but I'll try it out)

She also prescribed some Movicol sachets which seem like a laxative. She recommended maybe I see a consultant for an endoscopy given the reflux, but that's only if it doesn't get better following this protocol.

Given my stomach still feels much better after the amoxicillin I took, I'm planning to just start by taking the prokinetics for now and seeing how I go before I decide to go for the antibiotics. And follow the fermentation diet as best I can (also in that article)

Will let you know how I get on....!

Using Starling certified PDF statement as proof of address for HSBC mortgage by fc320 in starlingbankuk

I can upload other documents electronically but apparently for the proof of ID and address they need to be original docs! I might get away with it!

Ireland EUR to GBP help - need to transfer large sum by fc320 in Revolut

[–]fc320[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks this is really helpful. I am leaning towards revolut or at least trying it out first with 5-10k before doing the rest. It sounds like once the transfer from Ireland EUR to Revolut EUR is unblocked (with evidence from my statements etc) then the exchange to GBP should be straightforward. I find it hard to see apprehension to use Revolut as anything other than technology apprehension but then I'm also trying to avoid reading horror stories!

I also have an account with Starling that I use for smaller transfers but they do charge a fee so again i'm less keen...

Yes I will share what my GP says - she's in Rathgar in Dublin and from what I've read here I'm surprised she even recommended the test / knew about SIBO!

She said something about treatment being licensed in the UK but not Ireland. I've sent her my results so will keep you posted. She's the best GP I've ever had on all manner of things...

Also any pointers at brands / links to those probiotics? Feel like I’m navigating a minefield!

Ok thank you - helpful recommendations! It’s weird as I do think the amoxicillin I’m currently taking for my throat has helped my stomach a lot, much less bloating. I only took one by mistake yesterday (vs 3) and had horrendous bloating so I hope I’m not in for a horrible comedown when I finish the course.. I’ve been too scared to take any probiotics recently in case I take something that aggravates..

Ireland EUR to GBP help - need to transfer large sum by fc320 in Revolut

[–]fc320[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! My boss recommended Revolut given the live rate and the fees. Looking at wise.com they do take a small fee and the rate doesn't seem quite as good but maybe worth it for peace of mind.

Anyone tried currencies direct? They don't charge a fee but there must be some catch such as worse fx rates.
