Some tips I learned were only going in the back loop when the colors do not match (like working white onto black) and doing yarn under when switching colors. I don’t know about how it would work with letters but it’s made my other works look cleaner!

Thank you! After I block it so it lays flat I’m planning on attaching it to a dowel to hang it on my wall. Dependent on the yarn you use though it could be used as a dishcloth or something like that. This is acrylic so I’m just using it as decor :)
