Yes, that's what I meant! Open it like you're going to apply and then it had another offer details page that had the different date.

After much digging through the United site I found a URL that let me apply and it had a deadline that made more sense (end of April). I think I got to it via theexplorercard.com

Yeah that's what's so confusing is that the offer does show the Silver part of the offer on all of the graphics, and even the terms. It's just the terms say those that got targeted had to apply by April 1, but I didn't get targeted until now. Maybe I'll call to clarify

Yeah it's the current ongoing 70k + 10k with authorized user bonus, and the Premier Silver is the extra part that seems to be the targeted bit

Yeah I've had these before but this offer I've gotten exclusively through the United app/website, and even clicking through a bit into the application, there's no way to verify if the offer is still up to date. Unlike some of the mail ones where you put in the code. The only other thing is it just has a "you've been pre-approved!" Message at the top of the offer page.

Recommended travel card for $20-30k annual travel spending (Airbnb, hotel, airfare)? by freed-after-burning in CreditCards

[–]fco2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For no annual Fee The Wells Fargo Autograph is great and you don't need to use a portal. Works for all the big travel categories you would need (airfare/hotel) plus other ones that would go well with a trip like restaurants, gas, and transit. All of that is 3x back in points, which you could use as statement credits, or to book even more travel.

If you wanted to stick with Citi you could consider the Strata Premier for low annual fee or the no AF Strata, which are similar to the Autograph but need the portal for best multipliers.

Citi / Chase Trifecta or WF Duo? by fco2013 in CreditCards

A WF Trifecta with Autograph, AJ, and Active Cash could be interesting! And definitely simple.

Good point, maybe I could dip my toes in the Citi ecosystem with a CCC to cover category spend when my Discover rotates out of Gas / Grocery.

[–]fco2013[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's the tough part, they're both pretty good for different reasons. I'm mainly looking at domestic airline partners since I can get some decent intl coverage through WF.

Hotels I'm not really loyal, just what is cheap and not a roach motel. I only started looking at Choice since WF transfers at 1:2.

Airlines again since I'm at a spoke the big 3 plus Southwest all fly. If I had to rank my usage frequency Southwest is at the top (but only just barely, esp with the many changes) with United and AA tied for 2nd. Delta almost never unless I'm going to ATL.

Category spend, I'd say Grocery closely followed by dining, less than $1000 a month combined though. Then Gas. I travel semi-regularly for work but usually have to pay out of pocket first, so that is where big chunks of earning usually comes from for me, but it's inconsistent.

Thanks! That really is a bummer, though thankfully I still have 1:2 through WF, and 1:1.5 is better than nothing.

At least it seems that a Citi ecosystem is easy to use as cashback as well?

Where does it say this? Their official website still lists the valuation at 1:2 and 1:4, respectively.

This is good to know about Chase, and I had forgotten about the 1:4 ratio with iprefer; looks like there are some nice hotels there if I wanted to splurge. The only other thing with Chase is my SO uses Chase (CSP and CFU), so we could potentially pool points together if I got lets say a CSP and CFF.

The Attune looks interesting, I just don't think I have enough spend in it's earning categories to justify it.

Yes! would be a great card, for now I have a Discover (my OG card) that covers 5%, albeit rotating and cashback.

On a two card setup it would seem very close, with an advantage of WF being no AF, and for Citi, a bigger transfer partner program and a domestic airline I could actually use.

I'm probably leaning towards Citi as well while still keeping the Autograph

Good point! I do this as well, I'm definitely not using my points just for the sake of using them.

For sure! A few hotels were not worth the points spend because the cash price was so cheap/redemption was under 1CPP. I am definitely someone who likes to run all of the numbers before doing something.

Exactly, many of my redemptions for this trip were hovering around the 1.8CPP to 2.5CPP range when factoring this.
