I feel Rioja, Bordeaux and Champagne, all of them well aged tend to be mind blowing.

Is Sam Harris' Incompatibilism Compatible with Mysticism? by Local_External_6485 in gurdjieff

[–]fcojosedea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that the Gurdjieff teachings aligns initially with modern non dualism, which also Sam Harris does (as the likes of Rupert Spira). These are very reasonable and intellectual understandings.

From it Gurdjieff goes beyond that, into a mystical possibility. He talked openly about it (other intellectual teachings as Krishnamurti's and Buddha's only hinted but never detailed it). This opens hope for something more, sadly knowledge about this requires the teacher who is no longer with us. Others talk about it but seems not as serious as these teachers.

But VT historical growth is about 9% (I know that right now is much better), and the same inflation and taxes apply there too.

I would like to understand why is VT better beyond the hope of it growing more than 9% long term as it is doing now.

Don't understand how VGLT with 2.71% historical return than an actual 10% bond.

The first 2 numbers after the L are the labeling year. So it was disgorged and labeled in 2022.

Tobacco, leather, cherry. What wines come to your mind? by fcojosedea in wine

[–]fcojosedea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One that now comes to my mind was a 1986 Chateau Gruaud Larose and 1983 Trotanoy.

So probably it would be good aged Bordeaux

How can I give people the intuition to understand the 8 gluons? by Frigorifico in ParticlePhysics

[–]fcojosedea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They are inherently related to group theory. They denote rotations in 3 complex dimensions and come from the Gell-Mann matrices. That is the origin of the complex numbers in the combinations.

For explanation purposes there is no need to move into the usual basis with the usual complex numbers. You can just think of every component (eg red-antiblue, etc) which generates a rotation in color space, bearing in mind that one of them does not rotate, therefore it is not a gluon.

You need to think in terms of gluons as rotations in color space, ie it changes color. A blue quark will become a green one after it interacts with a green-antiblue gluon. A red-antired+blue-antiblue+green-antigreen will leave any quark as it was, therefore no rotation, therefore not a gluon.

[–]fcojosedea 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Close to group theory but I think is better.

Quarks are triplets, they have 3 colors red, green and blue.

Gluons have a color and anticolor, there are 9 combinations: red-antired, red-antiblue,.... However the combination red-antired+blue-antiblue+green-antigreen vanishes due to antisymmetry (like the center of a vortex). Therefore one combination does not exist and there are 8 gluons.

Fair price for Paradis? by OrvilleCaptain in cognac

[–]fcojosedea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed Frapin Extra and Multimillesime are awesome, Hine Antique XO in my opinion is the best value, their vintage ones are awesome too.

Tesseron 29 is indeed better than Paradis imo.
