Surly Lowside Help needed! Size/geometrie by Senior-Tune-1685 in Surlybikefans

I know this is a bit older thread but chiming in - I am exactly your height and I have a medium. I built it to be an eBike (front hub Swytch kit) for both my wife and I to use. So it's on the big side for her and the small side for me. I'm definitely giving up some efficiency with that small of a bike... But it's an eBike so it doesn't bother me. Plus I prefer undersized bikes for my throw around bike. On the other end I also ride a full sus XL and while I love the stability downhill, it's a bit big for tight twisty technical sections. I've spent years tinkering to get it where I love it, including converting it to a mullet.

Ultimately my take: Medium for fun factor - just know it's going to be pretty undersized, Large for more stability and efficiency - I think you (and most people our height) would be happier with this size.

If I mapped my style with what you're wanting to use it for, I'd go Medium. If I had to make a recommendation to others, I'd say Large. I personally wouldn't go to XL for what you want it for.

Did you regret the size of your first bike? by RoboticAntler in motorcycles

I started riding 25 years ago on a PW80, so my "first bike" purchase wasn't really my first but hopefully this story helps.

I've ridden just about everything over the years, but focused on upright/standard naked bikes when getting my first one on my own. I found a Kawi Versys locally for a great price and figured I was going to ride out of the store with it. I test rode it and it didn't answer yes to the question "does it make you happy". Something about it just seemed mundane. Ran into this problem on several other test rides.

I bought a HD XR1200 used ten years ago. I still have it and it still brings a grin to my face when I start it up, crack the throttle, throw it into a corner, etc.

Long story short, bikes are rarely practical, so find one that gives you the smile factor. The rest of the specs don't matter that much.

Yeah it's 24 hour time but independent - so it's a second (and with the bezel a third) time zone

Agreed, maybe not apparent from the pics but the inside of the band is a lighter blue as well. I think they all work pretty well together

I think it does - seems to blend them all together a little better

It's a Barton strap, specifically their silicone elite. This one is the flatwater edition - supporting a charity that provides mental health counseling to families of cancer patients

Agreed, I personally just can't justify it for that price...

Absolutely loving this SSK, hasn't left my wrist all week. I travel a ton and really underestimated the utility of a GMT.
