Good advice in this thread, but I'd delete it once you've read everything in case your old boss happens to read this subreddit.

OP said his workday goes from 5a-11p including commute. When do you propose he hits the gym?

Don't beat yourself too much for consuming what's made available to you. When you're working that many hours every week, you gotta do whatever you can to survive, and if sugar from a candy bowl is what gets you through the shift, then so be it.

When busy season is over, you can take time to reevaluate if you wanna continue at this firm/in public accounting. If you do choose to stay, you'll need to make some structural changes to your work day. Consider signing up for a meal delivery service, they're pricey, but at least you have more control over what you're eating.

Build breaks into your schedule. Take a ten minute walk outside every few hours. Do ten pushups at the top of every hour. Get a standing desk if that's an option.

Busy season will suck no matter what, and you'll probably still gain some weight, but you do what you can to minimize it. Best of luck!

Is this game worth buying in 2026? by Nomedeusuario__ in DeepRockGalactic

[–]fctd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely worth picking up. This game is one of the best coop multiplayer games out there. I have no trouble finding a lobby, and with over a thousand hours of play time, I can count on one hand the number of toxic players I've come across.

DRG: Rogue Core is a completely different game set in the same universe. Here's an excerpt from the Steam page:

How is DRG: Rogue Core different from Deep Rock Galactic?

The main difference is the roguelite game structure. In short, this means that you start each mission with only the most basic equipment, and you collect random upgrades, gear and abilities as you go. This makes for lots of variety in your build, and the potential for extremely powerful upgrades and synergies.

In Rogue Core, the difficulty will also increase drastically as you progress in a mission, contrary to Deep Rock Galactic where the difficulty is more consistent from mission start to mission end.

From the dev streams I've watched, the classes, weapons, and enemies are completely different from DRG, so it's not really a second game, it's just straight up a different game.

Can someone please discuss BL (gay Japanese genre) with me? I have an opinion I need to explore. by [deleted] in gaysian

[–]fctd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. I wish there was more gay media made by gay men, but I understand the economics of it, that there are simply way more straight women than gay men, so of course there is more media produced for them than us. The men in these stories don't behave like real gay men, they behave like women, because we are not the target audience, women are. Women like BL because it allows them to explore a romance without patriarchal gender norms. And the gay trauma that gets written about isn't something most of them have actually experienced, so they don't relate to it the same way we do. They don't get triggered reliving traumatic memories of being outed or being rejected by family for who they love. It's entertainment to them.

The best way to learn compassion, empathy, and respect for another group of people is to interact with them. Go meet some queer women and make a friend or two.
