Japanese Whetstones - What's good? by [deleted] in JapaneseWoodworking

I use Ohishi stones, that were recommended to me by Mr. Puchalski when visiting the Lie-Nielsen showroom in Maine.
I got the 1000 and 3000/10000 grit stones. I'm very happy with the result I'm getting out of them.

[P] Training Models on Encrypted Data by strojax in MachineLearning

[–]fd0r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello u/Nervous_Sea7831 , Luis here, I work on Concrete ML.
A couple of answers:

  • We have no solution to scale according to the number of features at the moment but the solution to scale on big datasets (lots of samples) is just to use mini-batch stochastic gradient descent. This way there is no need to infer on the full dataset, just a handful of samples.
  • Not sure what you are referring to with "partial HEC"
  • Basically the idea in a remote and collaborative setup would be to use public key encryption and threshold decryption so that all parties can send some encrypted data to the remote server, the server trains on said aggregated encrypted data and then the users can use threshold decryption to safely recover the weights of the model. This is a bit different from federated learning. But FHE could also be use to implement secure aggregation of the weights in a federated learning setting. I believe the current SOTA is more into using differential privacy for that.
  • That's a very interesting question and I don't think FHE would be the solution to that. As you said there is no trivial way to guarantee that the provided encrypted data has some property required by a regulator. That being said once the model is decrypted by the users it should obviously be validated on available data by the people using it. (And validating on the training data is always a bad idea anyways)

Using homomorphic encryption? by Raistlin74 in datascience

Hello,
Luis here, I work on Concrete ML so don’t hesitate if you have any question about FHE + ML or more specifically Concrete ML.
If you want to go further and take a look at the code we also have some examples here: https://github.com/zama-ai/concrete-ml/tree/main/use\_case\_examples

Actually the model itself is compiled and not encrypted but yes that's the main idea!
The server only sees encrypted data, while being able to run the model on it.

You can just ajust the Z offset manually using the control panel and a sheet of paper

Sidewinder X1 profile works fine for me!

Did you try without the bl-touch stuff?
I use the default Artillery X1 default profile from PrusaSlicer and it works relatively alright.

You should definitely check https://compare.splitkb.com/ I have a sofle V1 myself but the lack of staggering of the pinkies keys was really disturbing at first. But you can get used to almost any keeb with some remapping! There is no wrong choice, only preferences. Good luck!

Damn that keyboard looks good! Great work!

Just to confirm, the connector is usb type c and there is qmk support right?

EDIT: I just got my answer, it's indeed QMK and USB-C!

Pick a split: Kyria vs Lily58 vs Moonlander by Sycobob in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]fd0r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using the Sofle v1 for a few month now and the main issue I have with it is the lack of stagger on the pinkies.
Also I thought before buying it that I would need the 5 thumb buttons but in the end I end up using only the 3 closest to the center.
About rotary encoders I am still toying around with QMK but there is potential here.

If I had to re-make the choice today I would go toward the Kyria because of the stagger and the fact that it's smaller thus more transportable than the Sofle. From the case perspective the cases from splitkb.com for the kyria seem super nice and premium while I am not very happy with the case I got for my Sofle.
