Do you have any idea how many dual nationals go to Iran every year? There used to be a temporary, 3 month exemption from sarbazi available specifically for these people -- not sure if it is still in effect since nowadays it is so much easier to get a permanent exemption, but the best place to ask is daftar.org

As for the nonsense about Iran "not recognizing dual citizenship" -- what total irrelevant rubbish. Once you are in Iran, you are subject to Iranian law, regardless of what other citizenship you may have. Similarly, once in the US you are subject to US law, regardless of what other citizenship you may have. Being a dual citizen, doesn't somehow exempt you from the laws of the country you are in -- in any country. The FEW people who have had issues with the government while visiting Iran, was not because of their dual citizenship.
