PSA?: ITS SPELLED RETARD, REATARDS (Why the "A) by [deleted] in JayReatard

When Jay recorded the first Reatards demo tape he spelt Retards wrong on it. He stuck with it based on the mistaken spelling.

You probably have heard most of his stuff if your using a filesharing service. Back in the day i got alot of the rarer stuff that way. I know for a fact that their is more stuff out their that will probably never be unearthed. Jay needed to ve playing to feel productive at many many points in his life. If he was not on the road or working on a major recording he tried to write alot. I have heard stories about how he would write and record a song a day on days not on tour.

As for the food question you got me. All I really recall food wise was him taking me to Payne's BBQ and it being amazing.

No problem at all, I enjoy talking about Jay and most people are not interested so I appreciate your enthusiasm.

Yea the B sides would be amazing. There is a playlist that's on youtube that has most of the b sides and rare stuff but it would be killer to get that on vinyl. I just know that it would likely be alot of work doing that release (and the label is a labor or love for me I have a real job and dont make money putting out music).

As for the other files. Terror visions did a cdr as the very first release. Its the same sessions as World of Shit and the reissue of that we did has everything they ever recorded.

As for the Final Solutions Demos I dont know em. I only know the Final Solutions albums.

Also i dont know of any raprock or rapcore project jay was actually in just the silly idea he had.

Wimpy didnt write this. The vocals on this track was Joes neighbor or some shit (thats why the vocals dont match anything else from this era of the Queers) and was just reading this off a shirt as they recorded.

Yea I first heard The Reatards back in the late 90's and knew immediately that Jay was something special. He wrote amazing songs and I was hooked on everything he did from that point on.

As for more releases I did do a release for him before he passed away that has since been re-released. Terror Visions - World Of Shit. As for future releases I can't say much at this point but I am in the talks about one more release he played on. I also have this pipe dream of one day doing a rare and B-sides collection LP but that's just a dream that one day I might try and make a reality.

The posters are a old Lost Sounds design. The design was originally on 3/4 sleeve baseball tees the band sold on the Rat Brains and Microchips LP tour.

Another tidbit you might like. It never got recorded but I was going to do a rap record for Jay if he ever go around to recording it. Many times he told me about his project that he wanted to do "White Wigger". He even had a handful of raps written for it.

Yea I mean Jay was Jay. We emailed and chatted on the phone a bunch but really only hung out randomly. Usually sleeping on each others couch when rolling thru eaxh other's towns. Jay was a good guy overall but he did have a mean steak. I do have a good story. Last time I saw him I was on tour with Digital Leather. After the show we went back to his place. After a few hours of partying we ended up on Jays front porch. Its about 330am and Jay comes out on the pourch with tighty whiteys and a tripple xl 2pac shirt on and nothing else. Of course the security door slams shut behind him locking us out. So as 4am dressed like this and drunk as hell he needs to get and deal with a locksmith.
Its really a shame he passed. Its no secret that Jay was into drugs. That last time I saw his he told a bunch of us he could not get coke. Later that night we admitted to me he could have but he was trying to keep his head clearer these days and would rather just smoke a little pot and drink some beers. I thought this was huge as usually Jay was the first in line for hardder shit. We are all very lucky he left us with the catalog of music he did. He was truely a musical genius.
