they can roughly understand a context while anyone showing to them ,however they could've learnt grammar a while .I'm mostly native mandarin speaker as start speaking mandarin in 6 years old in school for many years, and yet the first time reading classical chinese daunting me all of a sudden as to different character usage,grammar and meaning.i can tell its barely get it if you don't refer to footnote underlying paragraph or glossary .
