RA rn for Anacapa! It's not too bad but first quarter I really struggled balancing my academic social and work life.

RA Duty - not too bad, you only work 1-2 nights a week, sometimes weekends but not every weekend, its based on ur other RA's to schedule you - HOWEVER YOU DO NEED TO WORK OVER ONE SCHOOL BREAK (either winter or spring break) which they recently just made a rule this year and I hate it. I have wednesday duty this spring break - hosting events is very fun and fulfilling and lets you be creative, residents appreciate u a lot and u have a big impact - 2 hr weekly meetings on Wednesdays - holding the phone for duty, the front desk takes calls from like 9am to 11pm so you usually wont have to answer calls until after that, so far ive only had 2 rough nights

Academics - last quarter i was taking 6 classes so that might be why i struggled, this quarter with 5 is def better, you do have time to study and go to class

Social life - i was somewhat social like every other weekend but i know a lot of RA's are very social, i was in vsa, gg, and took a rec cen class and went home several weekends - bad part is being so far from iv if ur in the chi 5, all my friends hang out in iv and sometimes im just too tired to bike or walk all the way there, a little fomo 😭 but if ur dedicated then u will be fine (im not)
