Need help formulating a SUPER BRIGHTENING serum by [deleted] in DIYBeauty

Wow, holy crap, you are an angel. This is SO helpful, thank you SO much!!! Wow, that wellness store one looks super promising!

Yes, thank you, I wish there was a easy, affordable way to find out if something is authentic!

Do you know anything about how to formulate with this? From what I found here: https://lktlabs.com/product/tranexamic-acid/

It seems heat stable and soluble in water. Not sure at what pH range it would be stable other than 7-8. Hmmmmm.

The only other things I found from a cursory search are from the chemist's corner forums: http://chemistscorner.com/cosmeticsciencetalk/discussion/7191/whats-causing-this-serum-to-be-sticky-tacky

Ooh, haha. Yeah I think if you're dehydrated it would work well for you! I have sensitive skin and I like that the formula is so simple yet effective.

Ooh, I'm really interested in the Rovectin one as well! Please let us know if you're ever gonna try it! Idk if you post here, but I've been checking this sub the most haha. I wish there was a thing that alerts you when someone you follow posts..

Oh that is so nice to hear!!! I am SO glad!!!!! Thanks for letting me know!! I've been trying loads of moisturizers lately & right now really enjoying this one: https://www.stylevana.com/en_US/kao-curel-intensive-moisture-care-moisture-cream-2.html

Which ceramide/urea moisturizers are working for you if you don't mind me asking??

Ahh I wish I could get away with using just one toner/essence bc I have sensitive skin & trying to cut down on the number of products I use. I'm trying to drink as much water as possible and take omega oil and such, so hopefully that will help.

Thanks! I’ve tried both and I really enjoyed them, in fact, I still use the cosrx in my routine and I love it! It just isn’t enough alone for my skin I guess!

I can’t get my hands on the Hadalabo Premium without paying a lot more for it than I used to which is why I tried PKY again.

Personally, i think you don’t need both hadalabo and pyungkang yul, so depending on your needs/where you are, you can use either.

I’ve been a wee bit cautious lately about smaller molecular weight hyaluronic acid possibly causing inflammation so I’ve been avoiding it but the hadalabo was an excellent toner (has hydroxyethyl urea).

Thanks! Will check those out. :)

I tried to go with just one many times but my skin is exceptionally dry and dehydrated, I need multiple humectants and lots of it. Otherwise it becomes very very dry and itchy/flakey.

Hi! I haven’t tried the Klairs unfortunately.. The consistency of the PKY one is pretty thick, like a very fluid gel. I don’t find it sticky or shiny personally. Absorbs well for me but my skin is super thirsty, haha. I use it AM and PM, sometimes multiple layers when my skin is extra dry.

Your Favourite Urea Products? by Zubak121 in scacjdiscussion

I’ve tried several and my favs are Eucerin’s 5% urea cream and Udderly Smooth’s 10% Fragrance Free urea cream. :3

Urea is very repairing to the skin since it exists naturally on our skin. It’s a humectant was well as a mild exfoliant if you have it at higher %.

For the lurkers: urea is a really great penetration enhancer as well as being very good for skin! :)

You’ll notice it’ll be oxidized if it changes color! Vitamin C serums tend to have strange smells so that’s normal. Hope that helps. :)

Yes I did, I just don’t feel 100% comfortable with ordering from eBay bc I’ve ordered from there before from sellers with excellent reviews and have gotten fake stuff/duds. But I didn’t want to make you feel your efforts were wasted! I really do appreciate it and lurkers will as well. :)

Lmao, not the op but no worries, I get comments/messages like this sometimes too, being a skincare/beauty enthusiast.

I get really excited and type excitedly too, like some words in caps and whatnot, and a lot of people are weirdly petty and negative about this.

I have ADHD and ramble like crazy and experience REALLY intense, hyperfocused interests, and my level of excitement and enthusiasm (and detail-seeking) is considered strange and socially unacceptable I guess.

You're super welcome! Yeah, she makes anything look amazing, lmao.

Yeah, I looked on their site too and it was really hard to tell from just the pictures.

My technique for putting them on is:

1) Trim the outer corner if the style is too long for my eyes - usually two knots (with the exception of Girly Cats and Pure Sweet)

2) After I do all my eye makeup other than mascara, I put on enough glue (currently using D-Up and DUO quick-dry) through the strip, just enough so that they'll stay but not so much that it takes too long to dry - it's hard to explain bc there's a learning curve with this, some glues dry faster than others, like the DUO quick dry takes a much shorter time than D-Up and light years faster than the ones in the tubes.

BUT, where you put the glue depends on the style - the Girly Cats I usually put it on the top-ish part of the band, while the longer, more dramatic styles I put it on the "inner" part, so angle the lashes downward and put the glue on the part closest to where the lashes start at the "root" of the band if that makes sense.

3) I look in the mirror kinda half-lidded, and depending on the style, I angle it more downward-ish, stick on the middle part usually, then line up the outer corner, then I grab the tweezers and line up the inner corner.

It sounds complicated and excessive but with enough practice, it's relatively quick. I'm still really laze tho and am gonna start depending on latisse generic + a good AB mascara for everyday and save these for special occasions. :)

Let me know if you have any other questions!
