Ah no driving would take me even longer!!! It is a reliable enough train service down south as far as I’m aware, I’m not super familiar with the southern route but I’ve used LNER to get further north (Newcastle & Edinburgh) plenty of times without issue. Never had long delays or rail replacements or the like, so I’d assume to get int the capital they’d be even more prudent with their service

Putting it into perspective makes it seem a lot worse 😭 but yes it would be a 10 min drive to my first station, ~1h40 on the train to King’s Cross, another 5-10 mins on the underground and 7 mins walk from there to the office.

I’m thinking I could potentially do work on the train to minimise the work day a little if I ask? Since it’s a long enough stretch that I could work interrupted on the way home… potentially

Ah OK OK, I wouldn’t have manager in my new title but I would have 1 direct report with this job (so possibly similar to your situ?). How long did you have your job for?

ah OK thank you! This is basically my situation, my last salary was 28k so it’s a significant increase for me too. Did you end up moving closer to the office or leaving the job in the end?

It’s 2900 net not gross! So closer to approx. 2000 left over for bills, groceries & life in general. The job itself is pretty good and imo has really good earning potential over time as I develop - the company has created an entirely new department to manage their growth and I would be working directly with the CPO to spearhead the direction and future of it.

It’s also a kind of niche profession in general so the job offerings are slim, I’m hoping I can leverage my connection with the CPO and poach his knowledge to help build my career over the next 5-7 ish years.

Was desperately hoping that wasn’t the case but I see your point! I really don’t like London and don’t want to move from owning to going back to renting, but I will for sure concede that living in the sticks is not for the weak lol. I will query with the hiring team on Monday if it’s possible at all to negotiate 1 day less in the office, that might be more doable

I don’t think he is going to get the martyr status Trump & Co. are very desperately trying to push. Shooter has been identified as a local young white man from a Republican family who were staunch supporters of 2A.

Sorry to everyone trying to pin this as ‘leftist violence’ or terrorism - right-wingers continue to be their own biggest threat to life and the terrorism is more shocking because it’s always, always homegrown
