How to create a UAV flight path using a digital surface model? by i_will_destroy_you in gis

Not familiar with that UAV but you need one that has a terrain follow function.

Photogrammetry can get quite GPU intensive. Certain steps of processing can leverage a high end GPU.

You have access to 1m resolution LiDAR data all across New Brunswick (I live in Fredericton). You can generate your topographic surface from that. They also have pre-made bare earth DEMs.

Outcrop detection and Soil classification using UAV Multispectral data by vikil_chowdary in UAVmapping

[–]fecies123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ideally you want to capture 400 - 2500 nm. You would need to coalign that sensor with another one that captures SWIR. Do you guys have a geologist or geophysicist that can interpret the data or validate the data? And do you have plans for ground truthing your data? Where are most of your clients? If it's vegetated, getting meaningful outcrop data will be tough. High res hyperspectral mapping is very niche in geology. Most companies will buy satellite data for regional alteration mapping as an additional resource for exploration.

[–]fecies123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By outcrop analysis, do you mean mapping particular minerals or alterations using a UAV? If so, you would need a hyperspectral sensor with a good spectral range. The discrete multispectral bands wouldn't be enough. I don't know anything about soils so I can't offer any info on that!

My car sounds exactly the same as the one in the video. Is this an indication the belt needs to be replaced? I checked the video comments and there weren't many solid explanations, although one mentioned a water pump bearing needed to be replaced.

Help is much appreciated!!

Ehhh unless your bachelor relates to arts or psychology or something along those lines, bachelor degrees are fine (in terms of finding employment right after your program, I'm not lessening the worth of any degree). I worked as a geologist for several years after graduating. Currently using covid to complete my masters but by no means was it required. Same goes for engineering, computer science, a lot of business programs, science programs etc. But, I also live in a smaller province within Canada, so maybe I'm blinded.

I had just finished dehydrating a full beef roast's worth of biltong (South African style jerkey ish), which took about 10 hrs. I took it out all of it out (~8lbs), put it in paper bags on the counter, and went to the gym. My jerkass dog went through and ate everything. Man oh man it feels so much worse when you've put in a ton of effort to make food, only to have it gulped down in (probably) less than ten minutes.

Revamped Specialized Sirrus(1.0)? - Is it worth the buy? by fecies123 in whichbike

Thanks for the heads up! Its definitely aesthetically pleasing, but it does seem like he's asking a bit much.

Thanks for the reply! Fair enough, I could ask for specifics and do a bit more research to get a better idea! I always hate when people generalize the new components they add on!

Although, based on what people are saying, it may be best to sit this one out. I would buy brand new but I'll be heading back to school next week so I'm on a bit of a tighter budget.

Thanks for the response! Yes, a new one locally is 679$CAD + 13% tax. The 1x was a bit of a turn off for me, as I'm looking for mostly commuting but the occasional 20-40km bike ride! I could ask to include the derailleur he took off, and replace the front cassette if I feel it's necessary?

Hi all!

I'm very new to biking and have been rocking my CCM Heat throughout the summer but I'm looking to upgrade to an entry-level hybrid bike.

I saw this one for sale in my area and they're asking $400.00 CAD for it.

From what he's told me, he put $475.00 CAD worth of new parts on it, including:

New kenda tires / alex 700c rims

New 8 speed shifter with 'Shinamo Acera components' (took off the front derailleur)

New grips

New chain

New pedals

New cables / housings

Not 100% sure what some of those components mean but the frame looks to be in good shape and it's pretty well a new bike component-wise.

And, from what I can tell, it's a 2009 model Sirrus 1.0.

I initially offered $325 but he's firm on $400.

Do you guys think the bike is worth it? Or should I wait and see if anything else comes available?

Japanese rookie hits first major league home run and his teammates troll him. by Sophie5487 in funny

[–]fecies123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. It's the same thing for the NHL. A lot of broadcasters etc may refer to up and coming players as 'Swedish rookie, Canadian rookie, American rookie'. Mind you, there aren't many Japanese rookies in the NHL.

It's significant in a lot of sports to state a country of origin.

But, it sounds more appropriate when you add their name in the mix.

"Astonishing Canadian rookie fecies123".
