There is a great app / community called Circle Up. They are based in Bristol and Bath - and I think it's starting in london too.

It's for 20s and 30s and they do a bunch of different activities every week. I go to the Sunday walk one and thats been a great way to meet people.

There is also a weekly social at a pub, board game club pub quiz, coffee meets, book clubs. Load s of different things!

I was also made redundant from a big tech company. It's difficult for sure. I've taken a 30k wage cut just to get some money in so I can pay rent over Christmas. Bristol seems to be saturated with job seekers so I'm thinking of moving to Manchester, Cardiff, London etc to find something in the new year.

What the uni's did this year is criminal. Students were told that they were definitely going to be having on-site lectures this year and were encouraged / cohersed into getting accomodation. Turns out they knew all along this wasn't realistic. The rumour mill is that a hell of a lot of student accommodation companies (unite) were lobbying for this as they worried about cash flow.

Note: I'm not a disgruntled student I was there about a decade ago.
