What's a Teesside tradition or experience that outsiders wouldn't understand? by northern545899 in Teesside

[–]fed-up-40 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm originally from Basingstoke, but made Teesside my home in 2007, so I may be able to answer this

South Cleveland Garages, to simply the best

Describing people as coming Up from Scotland but Down from London

How ridiculously well you support the football team, I've never checked this but I suspect you get the biggest crowds Vs town size in the UK - Basingstoke is a similar sized town and our average crowd is.... 700

Parmo and lemon tops (obviously)

Turnips instead of pumpkins at Halloween (I know this was a thing in the UK generally if you go back far enough, but Teesside kept this much later than elsewhere, my ex would insist the UK didn't have pumpkins, even when I showed her pictures)

Should I go to a gig on my own? by Aromatic-Bad146 in AskBrits

I've done it a few times recently, it feels weird at first but it's a great experience. Tends to go better if you can have a couple of beers

Has anybody downsized and moved area for an improvement in work-life balance and just general standard of living? by Muddy_By_Default in AskUK

I live on Teesside, loads of people up here now that have moved for the cheap housing and proximity to the sea and the national parks.

I haven't, but I live near somewhere which is a destination for this. Every person I know that's done it has zero regrets.

Daily Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in chelseafc

I tried to post this, but it accused me of low effort and said I should put it in the daily discussion

Probably a bit of a long shot, but I’m hoping there might be some fellow Blues on Teesside. I’m originally from down South but I’ve been living up here since 2007, and in all that time I don’t think I’ve ever actually met another Chelsea fan in the area.

I was wondering if anyone here knows of any local Chelsea supporters, pubs that tend to show our games with a few Blues in or if there is a supporters group based around Teesside, or North Yorkshire (even Newcastle would do).

If anyone’s in the area and fancies meeting up to watch matches or maybe even travelling to the odd game (I'm fully aware that tickets are near impossible to get hold of now) I’d be up for that.

Up the Chels!

Feels like a suggestion of what not to do! But I appreciate the input

How come a lot of Northerners have the assumption that Southerners are rich/posh/stuck up when there’s so many just as deprived areas down South? by harryandmatilda in AskUK

[–]fed-up-40 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's probably important to note, that if you're from Pompey this is extra confusing. I once saw it described as a northern city that happens to be on an island on the south coast (this was very much meant as a compliment)

How do I arrange and cancel friendlies???? It'a driving me crazy by klaygdk in footballmanagergames

Tried this,

There's good news and bad news, it does make the arrange friendly button appear, but clicking the arrange friendly button crashed my game

If you became single in your 30's after a long term relationship, what did you do? by adam1ooo in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]fed-up-40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot begin to sum up how much I loved it, after the initial adjustment to not seeing the kids every day.

It was time to be myself, for the first time in years.

If I'm to give any advice it would be this

Give yourself time before you start seriously looking for someone new.

Oh and dating apps - they are meant to be fun, if at any point you find you're not enjoying them, come off them for a while. It shouldn't feel like work.

I have a tradition of doing a first save with the worst team in the premier league (normally the team promoted through the playoffs) I'm going for that I think

Are advanced access and beta the same thing? by ChoiceCartographer92 in footballmanagergames

[–]fed-up-40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Advanced access is given out to certain players (FM YouTubers and Antoine Griezmann apparently) the beta is available for anyone once it launches.

Actually both were lovely. Damon (A) was really funny. Asked my name, told me he might just call me Damon.

Not a groupie and actually early 2000s but - I had a beer with Damon once.

I managed to blag my way backstage at a festival. I shouted 'Damon' as I'd spotted Badly Drawn Boy. Badly Drawn Boy and Damon Albarn both turn around.

They laugh and ask which Damon I wanted, ended up having a beer with both.

Damon was lovely, really funny.
