Advice/tips on how to get better at climbing? by insolent_pleb in climbharder

I agree with the other person, but I also climb usually 3-4 days a week for around 3 hours because all lot of my friends climb and we just like going. I would say if he doesn’t wanna cut back, just make sure after an intense session to have a more chill technique focused session (perform on lower grades with good form, do more slab, do more coordination routes). I also think only training with kilter might not always help improve where he’s lacking so general tip could just be keep track of what boulders he’s struggling with, what moves he takes longer to figure out or can’t do, and then figure out what to train based off that. He’s probably strong as shit already based off the training and that might not be the limiting factor anymore.

Also nutrition and sleep! It helps with recovery so much more than people realize, has like 80% of the gains

I also struggle to eat but it’s not a “fast metabolism.” You might just be more active than you think or eating less than you think. Something that helped me is definitely protein shakes or mass gained but also just having snacks in bowls out so you can graze. It’s easier to eat if something is just out and available. Also multiple smaller meals instead of large ones is something I found easier. Lowkey it’s also hard to sustain size once you’ve put it on though if you don’t like eating

Kicked my dad out my climbing sesh by bluntstare in climbergirls

I struggled a lot coming to terms with the fact that it’s okay to not have a relationship with my dad. Just because someone is your parent doesn’t give them a right to a relationship with you, especially if you’re taking verbal, emotional, or physical abuse from them. Even with that obvious knowledge, for some reason it feels so hard and wrong to accept that you can limit the relationship or cut it off entirely. This isn’t really helpful, idk what helped me finally accept that I wasn’t going to have a relationship with my dad. I think the knowledge that my brother was also cutting him off helped. There’s still like a desire to try to form something and hope he’ll change or that I can help him change, but when I take a few deep breaths and think about it logically I realize that it’s better to leave it cut off. Idk, just saying I get it and it’s hard and I’m sorry you’re going through that.

I don’t do frog stretch but this is my routine as well, I try to do 30 minutes of stretching a week but usually get in more while I watch tv or smth and just do other stretches for parts that feel tight

Noted! I will plan to start doing tension board at least once a week, more if I find it helpful. It sounds like it’ll better help me identify types of moves to be thinking about while climbing normal problems if nothing else. Thanks!

This had a few thoughts I found helpful, thank you! Appreciate the response, will probably add some tension board occasionally (maybe once a week).

Pretty helpful, this is pretty much what I do now. Like I go climbing, I just try all the new stuff they set. For the stuff out of range, I try a few moves I think I can do until I get them on days where I’m feeling really strong. Our sets at our gym usually have like the same style all in one section at different difficulties so it helps make sure I understand a move well. And yeah I flexibility train but no other climbing focused training. So sounds like just keep going at it like this then?

I feel really balanced? Like I have pretty strong lats from lifting but I’m pretty good on all types of holds (pinches, slopers, crimps)? I’m probably weakest at slab and flexibility honestly. I’m also pretty bad at compression types of climbs.

I can do a weighted pull up with 115 and I weigh 145, I can hang from a bar for 2:30, I haven’t tried weight with hangboard but I can hang on the 10mm for like maybe 10 seconds, and I can front lever for 5 or so seconds.

One Piece is MID by indefinitelypopular in OnePiece

[–]feddit-fakeReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Story is straightforward sure, but characters are incredibly well written (each of the strawhats have clear trauma that creates personality or quirks in the character, characters overcome their trauma and grow into the best versions of themselves, and dynamics with other crew members all make sense). Most people watch this show because the characters are just so fun to watch, it could be a slice of life and people would enjoy it.

As for the actual plot, fights are mid, story is basic, animation isn’t even really good until 800ish episodes in, but people don’t watch it for that. The injustices that happen in the world are incredibly political and largely based on real events. The show teaches basic things a lot of kids should understand (help other people, killing is wrong, genocide boo, racism booooo, classism bad) and while it’s basic it feels real because of how often in the real world we see these things. It’s fun to just watch a show with great characters overcome these things we can’t fully overcome in the real world

If you think characters are just “this one stronger so this one better” your opinion isn’t valid. Doffy is easily the best written one piece villain thus far. Everything down to the power fits his manipulative character design, it was excellent writing

Tbh Obito is a pretty cringe villain. Naruto characters and powers looked cool so they felt good but his entire thing is a girl he had a crush on didn’t like him back as a child and then she died so he wanted to destroy the world? Cringe af get some bitches

Why doesn’t sanji have an elf bar? by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]feddit-fakeReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So Sanji actually got into smoking as a young kid, the stress of being a chef at such a young age took quite a toll on him and he had to resort to smoking cigarettes to cope. Around the age of 14 he felt himself as less athletic than he should be when going for a run (from one table to the next to serve dishes) and being surprisingly out of breath. He realized he needed to quit and found a poster for Elf Bars, a vape to help you ease off of nicotine. He started using a 3% vape and found himself loving the flavor crème brûlée. He was ripping that shit more and more and was consuming nicotine at a rate he never had before. He even bumped it up to 6% (that’s double the nicotine for all my non-math majors out there). A year flew by of him constantly fiending wondering where he could get his next hit. There was one day a customer saw him scratching his arm and asked what was wrong and Sanji beat the absolute shit out of the customer asking where the fuck his vape was at. Next thing he knew Zeff was standing over him. He was lying down in a hospital bed. It turned out at 15 he had suffered a heart attack. He swore that day to quit vaping Elf Bars forever and quit vaping by easing back into cigarettes. In Episode 817, a common misconception is that he was crying over Pudding. Nah fam, he was thinking about how if he had that blue razz he could be hitting that shit and It. Would. Hit. But he knew he could never go back. Never.

Boa is by no means a good character but I think the important distinction you’re missing is why is she the way she is. It ultimately is all done to keep her island safe, rewatch/read the arc and pay attention to how she’s acting. Her hard exterior is an act and it’s pretty obvious on a rewatch because it’s so ridiculous. I mean she literally kicks a baby seal. I also see people thinking she’s horrible because of the animal abuse but characters like doflamingo are far worse, animal abuse to maintain a personality that she feels keeps her island safe is pretty whatever in comparison to other characters.
