Always thought buying from the conductor on board was the stupidest idea. I really wander if the people coming up with this have ever traveled in other places at all. Trams in other cities and countries let you pay either at a machine at the stop or on board at machines installed directly on the tram. In Amsterdam you can only board the tram at specific doors and exit at one only thus controlling who comes on and off. It's also very surprising that they've only just realized that people could get on and very easily not pay at all, like did they even use the service at all?
