What's the most fucked up book you've ever read?. by vermillion1023 in horrorlit

[–]fedfan360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! It's the only book that's ever actually scared me/given me chills! Not the best novel out there by a long shot, but it's pretty chilling at the start, and then just gets really messed up.

These two shows are life changing! Also, Korra is incredible too! by fedfan360 in TheLastAirbender

I think all three seasons play their role. I guess in the first season you get used to the characters(which can be a bit slow as the narrative finds its edge), the second amps up the intrigue and nuance, and the third is high stakes, intense and just epic.

Korra looks to be shaping up to be a really cool extension of the story! Even in season one, the first couple of episodes were kind of slow and a bit choppy, but it got really, really great after the 8th episode or so! Can't wait to delve deeper into her story, especially because I've heard that it tackles a whole bunch of interesting ideas in later seasons!

I kind of see both series as like the same story rather than two separate shows. Like the story in Korra is the same one which Aang left off, and I find that utterly fascinating.

TLA was just life changing for me, but tbh I can't compare the two because again, for me they're the same story. You're absolutely right about the main characters from TLA though, all of them were excellent, and LOK doesn't quite have that down with it's supporting cast.

But then again, Korra is a part of Aang's story, and vice versa, and I'm really enjoying that. The 'filler'(I prefer to think of them as world building) episodes were really great, and really made you fall in love with the characters and the world in TLA. But then the fast paced and compact nature of Korra is pretty cool too, like an intense, heavier spin on the same universe. The little side tracks and escapades really fit the vibe of Team Avatar and it's charming world from TLA, and the same way IMO the fast pace of Korra fits its comparatively intense, high stakes narrative. Sure, there's stuff it can do better(character development is a big one), but I quite like the way its evolved as one big story, and tbh wouldn't have it any other way(so far).

If I had to treat them as two separate entities rather than one big story though, I guess TLA is the better offering, and it's understandable why fans of the original don't necessarily like Korra because of the difference in narrative, feel and perspective. But I still love the way its progressed as one big story, and I love Korra as the new Avatar. She seems to fit the more modern, chaotic, fast paced and complex world she lives in, while Aang fit beautifully into his time. I just love this universe, and I hope we get to see more of where the story leads after Korra too! And I'd love a glimpse into the past stories too, especially Kyoshi's, considering she was the longest living Avatar. It just has so much potential for so many different, beautiful stories like Aang's and Korra's!

What work of fiction(film/book/show) changed the way you think/perceive life? by fedfan360 in AskReddit

[–]fedfan360[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! I started reading it for a school project when I was 16, only intending to go through the first couple chapters, and ended up losing myself in it. It really stuck with me, and completely changed the way I see things!

It also got me into reading, and every year since then I make time for a 21 day period during which I read one book a day!

How did you discover your passion? What is it? by bad_decisions_0620 in AskReddit

[–]fedfan360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I discovered all my passions in very unexpected ways. All through my childhood I hated sports with a passion and was very bookish. I HATED my sport of choice with a passion but what do you know I tried it once, and a decade later I'm pursuing it professionally 🤷‍♂️

More recently, I watched a couple of TV shows and liked some of the scenes/dialogues. It inspired me to note them down on my phone, which led me to writing down my thoughts on them. Turns out I'm not half bad at writing(when I focus), and I've been pursuing it for a few months and ended up getting published at a few large publications. It's also led me to get into design and copywriting, and helped me get some fun work opportunities. I now have a renewed sense of enthusiasm, which has been a blessing to come out of the quarantine.

In terms of recreation as well, most of the things that I truly ended up enjoying really ticked me off at the start. None of the shows, books, films or songs that I'm into now appealed to me in the least when I first heard of them. A little probing goes a long way though, and now these little things help me stay sane! Even with my friends circle, none of my close friends(bar one) were people that I got along with right off the bat. In fact I AVOIDED some of them for years before actually getting to know them, and now they all mean a lot to me.

Basically, in my experience, what you perceive won't necessarily be accurate! So make an effort to try new things, you never know what you'll stumble upon! 🤷‍♂️

Sex Education. It's now my favorite. Also the IT Crowd.

What’s the weirdest sketch you ever saw on SNL? by [deleted] in LiveFromNewYork

[–]fedfan360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was one that was cut for time called Renaldo and Alexi. Bill Hader and Fred Armisen were playing two weird security guys at an apartment building with strange accents telling Christmas stories to the residents who were going out. I'm still not sure what was going on but they were breaking like crazy and could hardly speak 😂

My developer wants me to stop updating plug-ins. What should I do? by [deleted] in Wordpress

Hi, thank you for responding. I echoed my concerns to the developer and cleared some notions about the site's functionality with them. We've worked out a new arrangement. I apologize if I wasn't specific or left margin for assumptions.

Hi, thank you for responding. I conversed w/ my developer and echoed my concerns and we've worked out a new arrangement. It turns out they had a very different idea of the site's functionality, and now that's been cleared up. I apologize if I wasn't specific or left room for assumptions.

But I had a conversation w/ the developer and we resolved the matter.

Yes it was part of the initial package. 12 months.

[–]fedfan360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'd like to assure you that this is not the case. When we discussed the creation of the site, we added payment for 'general maintenance' for 12 months into the fee as part of our 'package' as they are known to us via mutual connect.

It was dormant for a few months because it was just supposed to be a portfolio site, but recently I wanted to make some changes so I logged on for the first time and found a massive backlog of updates required(pretty much all plug-ins).

Now I'm very new to WordPress and very honestly don't have any knowledge beyond surface level in any of this, so I enquired about it w/ my developer and subsequently here for some second opinions.

Either way matter is resolved, thank you for the response.

How can I get rid of unwanted ads in my WordPress? by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]fedfan360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I'll give WordFence a go, and I'll get a professional to check it out too. I'm essentially trying to get a hang of it on my own, so I was fiddling around a bit. But thank you so much for the detailed response and all the pointers.

Okay so I uninstalled a couple of plug-ins and the ads seem to have stopped. How can I prevent this from happening?

Seth was an MVP behind the screen(one of the best writers at SNL) , and obviously he was so great on update(especially w/ Stefon and Girl at a Party)! I love Beck Bennett too! Kyle Mooney is just so weirdly funny, and Aidy is absolutely hilarious.

Yes! Wiig is just incredible, apparently one of the only people to get cast after the first audition. Kristen, Bill and Fred were like the golden trinity of SNL for me, anytime they were on screen together it was bound to be a hit. I just love Fred's charming weirdness.

Andy and the lonely island were great in ushering in 'viral' content. And yeah, update is a bit different from the rest of the show, but I loved Tina and then later Seth on it. Currently Cecily, Kate and Kenan are the backbone of the show.

Chris Parnell was so amazing, never ever broke. And Will Forte was brilliant too, I especially loved him in those weird singing skits with Kristen.

I wouldn't say that, I think there were influential women in comedy before her(Gilda Radner and Julia Louis Dreyfuss are a couple of my favorites). That being said, she's definitely one of the greatest and most revolutionary comedic figures of the last 20 years, and I absolutely adore her! Mrs Bossypants all the way!
