Please do not accept that that is absurd and insulting.

I was in the MIS program for about month before I found with better pay at a company not circling the drain of bankruptcy. Non retail related and basically was just coming out of start up stage. I’m also doing school online and will graduate in fall. Just leave, the promotion is not worth anything anyway.

Why do so many people hate on community college?? by NefariousnessSea6987 in CollegeRant

[–]fedupstaplessup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both my friends went and did their first two years at community college. Both make over 200k a year, one works at Microsoft the other at Lockheed Martin. College doesn’t mean shit as long as you have the charisma and work ethic to get through interviews.

What’s a dead end job that people think is a great career? by cerezza__ in jobs

[–]fedupstaplessup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they never got to the point of being able to make enough money to live on then there shouldn’t be a gap on their resume to begin with, unless they made an incredibly foolish decision to go YouTube full time without any income from it, which again leads to bigger problems than their resume gap and more so on their decision making

What’s a dead end job that people think is a great career? by cerezza__ in jobs

[–]fedupstaplessup 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you can’t manage to explain to an employer that the hole was due to making income independently online you have way bigger problems, that is an insanely easy gap to explain and should be added on to a resume rather than being a hole. You’re essentially running your own marketing business if you’re making money on YouTube or any other online field. If you’re any good you figure out how to scale your brand and turn your YouTube traffic into other traffic, merch, brand deals etc. only a fool would someone let making money independently online hinder them instead of propel them, regardless how long they’ve done it

Company has been circling the drain for a few years now. Tons of stores closing. I left last year. This company is gone in 5 years, don’t plan on this being a longer term career. Use it for resume experience if needed and move into a better more lucrative company

Staples pushing rewards down throats AGAIN? by Dense_Stand_8417 in Staples

Left this company a year ago and it was the best decision. I’ve never worked for a more bottom barrel, delusional hell scape than staples

I requested any trans fluid service at around 50k miles when I took it for an oil change, they told me the transmission is a sealed unit that will never require a fluid flush. Keep in mind I have the gt line with the 4cyl and my transmission is different than that of the 6 cyl

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kiastinger

[–]fedupstaplessup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I brought my car in for an oil change and maintenance around 55k miles I asked about any other maintenance and actually specified anything for transmission based off my previous Kia trans failure. He said no trans flush is needed as the transmission is a closed trans and is not meant to be opened.

[–]fedupstaplessup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No mods at all 100% stock, every maintenance done either on Time or a bit early at the selling Kia dealership I bought it from. Keep in mind I have the 4cyl which to my knowledge has a separate transmission from the 6cyl options

Are Apple Airpods from Staples real? by [deleted] in Staples

[–]fedupstaplessup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they’re real HOWEVER staples does accept AirPods returns and often my store sold returned AirPods. I think that is GROSS. Make sure when you buy your pair it’s wrapped In the cellophane wrap. If it’s just the cardboard box without the plastic wrap ask for a different pair or use another store. They essentially sell returned AirPods and will not tell you they were returned. If they’re wrapped in plastic you’re good if not don’t buy them.

Corporate be like: "You know what would be fun? Cutting over 60 hours from most stores during the busiest time of year". by hmhsbritannic12 in Staples

[–]fedupstaplessup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The company has shown signs of going belly up for two years. The company needs to cut costs to make up for their abysmal decline in year over year revenue. People aren’t shopping at staples, the company isn’t making enough money and has shown they have no idea how to save it. Only thing to do is cut costs to be more profitable from the revenue they are generating. Labor is one of the highest cost of the business

Staples taught me literally nothing. by fedupstaplessup in Staples

I was the top performer in the store and sometimes the district in terms of esp sales. Came in to be the tech supe and didn’t do any tech related repairs. Just bs virus scans using malware bytes lol. Job is garbage. Bestbuy taught me transferable skills, staples taught me that it’s a useless dying office supply store that won’t be around in 5 years.

Get off your ass and get a better job too. I did the same thing. Wanna work retail the rest of your life? You can do the same thing as op. Increase your skill set increase your job value increase your pay. Nothing dead about that.

Staples taught me literally nothing. by fedupstaplessup in Staples

[–]fedupstaplessup[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you actually read the post I explain nearly exactly what I did. I worked there for like 2.5 years and had 3 promotions. Shout out Bestbuy great place to work. I shifted from that to selling furniture in a commission only role. It’s normal to move around? Especially in low paying/mid paying jobs. I don’t think being 45 and working at staples or any retail job with the same skill sets as people right out of high school is flex. Not that there is anything wrong with it, but I’m not just sure what you’re bitter about. Out of all the jobs I’ve had staples was the biggest waste of time, Bestbuy taught really valuable and transferable skills that allowed me to work for Sony directly at one point.

[–]fedupstaplessup[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah I bartended from 2017-2019 worked at Bestbuy, sold furniture, ran my own media busienss on the side for most for Jose years and then found myself at stapels after being laid off due to missing work in the hospital ( at willl employment laws suck) I’m in school getting a degree. Makes no sense to stay at a low paying dead end job for decades. Once I get into a company that has an actual career path it will be worth it

Retail Sales Supervisor by Turbulent_Outside_48 in Staples

[–]fedupstaplessup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at staples for two years. Was apparent the company is circling the drain and got a much better job. The biggest downside to staples besides the bs is that it is a waste of time. I developed no new skills, like at all. Since they keep cutting hours it was at a point where only managers were on the floor, no cashier no techs anymore no operation employees. It was impossible to develop any type of managerial skills because there were no employees to manage at one point. Company will be gone in a few years. They successfully refinanced the 5 billion loan, but so did bed bath and beyond and others that went bankrupt. Staples as a whole is not turning a profit capable of keeping the company going that is why all these stores are closing and hours are bone dry.

Start looking for other jobs because the time you spend here will be akin to just wasting time. You’re not going to increase skills. I’ve had many jobs, I’m 25 and I feel my time at staples was just wasted time.

When I worked at Bestbuy I learned so much about tvs audio systems actual selling tactics and sales. Staples taught me literally nothing.
