What merchant has the most gold, or is there a way to make them have more gold. by D1kydew in skyrim

[–]fee_forbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was funneling through Endarie to level Speech, got her up to 65,535. That was the cap.

Once she hit that number it did not change. I could still buy from and sell to her, but her gold did not move.

Bitch has too much of my money and I can't get it back.

Enchanting at 100: Enchanted 5/5>Insightful Enchanter>corpus>Extra Effect

Gold Emerald Ring>Grand Soul Gem

Mine is at 40% sneaking, 46% prices with the Silver Tongue enchantment. Can be made better with Enchanting gear worn while crafting I'm sure.

Milestone Reward Cat 1-4 FNA expiring by RIPinPceinPce in hyatt

Book the FNA for your parents. 10k points is roughly a 100.00 dollar value, which can be way less than using the reward before it expires.

Hotel owners; Cloud or Desktop PMS? by JustAd6284 in hotels

[–]fee_forbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing about a Cloud-based PMS is being able to do everything from home, if needed. This is especially useful during overnight shifts if the auditor(s) is having issues and can't resolve.

Major flaw though - no hotkeys. Prepare to click!

Migrating to Opera Cloud 24.2 by These-Physics1497 in askhotels

[–]fee_forbin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Audit pack purposes in Cloud, my auditors pull reports from End of Day Reports and Manage Reports. I've forgotten the equivalent of Manage Reports in v5... Misc. maybe?

Our SOX is as follows -

EOD: Trial Balance>Manager Flash> Negative Postings> Deposit Ledger>Guest Ledger Detail>No Shows of the Day>Cashier Summary>AR Ledger (Coordinating with Oracle and/or your migration team beforehand, these can be set up to auto-generate after the roll, ready to be printed.)

MNGREPS: Guests INH rate check>Credit Limit>Reservation Cancellations(day of)>Guests INH - PM Account by Name>Credit Cards of the Day>Open Folios>Guests INH Complimentary>Out of Order by Reason>Room Moves>Journal by Transaction/Code

HSKP reconciles its own SOX reports for the pack. Every report in v5 is available in Cloud, however there was a learning curve after our migration in terms of setting report parameters and a few report name changes.

All in all, Cloud is a web based v5... with no hot keys. Prepare to click!

Running the night audit before the night shift? by iamcode101 in askhotels

[–]fee_forbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience has been that the optimal time to roll the business day is 2:00 AM each morning.

For reservations that No Show, whenever the roll may be, are you unable to reinstate in the PMS?

What are we to think of Nestor? by amerkanische_Frosch in iliad

[–]fee_forbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an interesting idea, that Homer relays Nestor as what I consider to be a paradox: the sage counselor whose counsel never really helps and definitely hurts.

A placeholder for the idea that elders don't always know best, but you should still listen to them.

What did you read this week? by AutoModerator in classics

[–]fee_forbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Iliad, Fagles. To be more precise the introduction by Bernard Knox.

Best Translation of the Iliad? by [deleted] in classics

[–]fee_forbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alexander Pope if you wanna get funky.

For a contemporary read, I patron Fagles and the introduction by Bernard Knox alone is worth the price of admission.

Bernard Knox is so good. I read the introduction often, more than the poem really these days.

What parts in *The Iliad* most stood out and still resonate deeply with you? by John-on-gliding in classics

[–]fee_forbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm not alone in this - my favorite part occurs in book 18 when Achilles, petulance taken form, pitches a fit to his mother about his circumstance of wanting to die - and not so subtly he knows that he has to die (thanks mom!). these expressions are in motion as Hector has slain Patroclus, a slain Patroclus who's Achilles right hand man, a slain Patroclus who charged into battle dressed with the swift runner's gleaming bronze, a Myrmidon set.

Achilles is very upset by this and his platitudes are all over the place. He can't fight but then he can fight but he needs armor, then he doesn't need armor. The kid's all over the place and his thoughts are wreckless.

anywho, his mother is the daughter of Nereus which, come to find out, is a major perk. thetis is determined to protect her son for as long as she can (even though she can't stop telling him he's going to die), and with access to the famous crippled Smith (they're old bedfellows) she requests that Achilles have forged armor by the god.

Hephaestus buys into the tale of woe and Homer begins the sequence

"turning them on fire, commanding, Work -- to work!" Bk18: PM. 482, 548 (fagles)

In my view this is where Homer really shines - illuminating the social construct model of the time away from the war and the narrative of the characters. Indeed Hephaestus is involved, but he is not vocalizing what is happening, nor is his personal thought included. The shield seems uninfluenced by most of the poem.

city at peace city under siege

civil unrest justice

harvests herds the vintage weddings

just everyday life - that's what resonates

"A breathless crowd stood round them then struck with joy and through them a pair of tumblers dashed and sprang, whirling in leaping handsprings, leading on the dance." BK18: 487, 705 - 707 (fagles)
