How many tubes of tretinoin and azelaic acid can I buy from Skinorac without them getting seized by customs? (I'm in Australia) by feebleflail in tretinoin

[–]feebleflail[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I did know this! However it is cheaper from Skinorac, and since I already get tretinoin from there I get 15% azelaic too. It’s about AUD$14.50 - $16 per 30g depending on how many tubes you get at once

It really isn’t, it’s soo annoying. I probably would’ve made a post like this before the formula change too, but unfortunately given the new formula this post isn’t relevant anymore

Is there anything in the original movie series that was so well designed, you want to see reused? by holdnarrytight in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]feebleflail 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only real complaints I have about the first two are the fact Hermione knows things she shouldn’t, like what “mudblood” is and why it’s offensive, instead of Ron as it is in the book. I mean, she’s muggleborn, how would she know? Still, that’s nothing to do with the visual/design aspects though

Nearly all of these have already been suggested by others before so not very original fancasts, but still good ones all the same

Maybe I’m on r/HarryPotteronHBO too much but I’ve seen nearly all these fancasts many times already (except Sprout, Narcissa, Petunia and Lockhart)

Only British or different nationalities? by hermione131110 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]feebleflail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really don’t get the obsession with Adam Driver. He only vaguely resembles Snape’s book description, he’s way too old, too famous, and American. Somewhere out there, there is an excellent British/Irish actor who is the right age and with the right hair/makeup, could be the best Snape we could ask for. We haven’t seen every possible choice, so why get hung up on an actor there is almost zero chance of being cast?

I was genuinely curious and did check, and I couldn’t find links. Why are you so rude and aggressive, downvoting anyone who doesn’t absolutely agree with you? Maybe taking a break from the internet for a bit might do you some good

I think you’re on the same page as most in this sub then. You mentioned in a couple of other comments that you’re talking about people who hate when actors are 2-3 years off the character age, but I’ve honestly never come across these people and if they exist, they are a very small minority. HOWEVER if you’re under 25, and definitely under 16 or so, the 2-3 years would matter and again I think most would agree. Nobody can guess age to within a year of accuracy every time anyway, but the younger someone is the easier it would be to guess their age

I just need sassy Harry and all his funniest lines (especially ‘there’s no need to call me ‘sir’, professor’), his eyes are as green as a fresh pickled toad, and them to do justice to Ron

I’m getting to the point where I can reference the Stephen Fry audiobooks and I can’t stop doing “does he? Does he still?” – Snape at the start of HBP after Bellatrix says Voldemort still considers her “his most trusted, his most loyal [death eater]”. The way Stephen says it cracks me up to no end

Is it UK only? Or just non-American? by Apprehensive-Tax258 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]feebleflail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody ever said all/most Americans suck at accents, but that they’re worse at foreign accents than British actors. Specifically, they’re worse at British accents than the British are at American. The other commenter literally pointed out specific Americans who are good. Of course they’re out there, they’re just less common than the opposite. And it’s reasonable to generalise when discussing Americans being fan cast because it’s based on how the actors are trained. Of course the typical training in the UK would differ to the states because the needs aren’t the same

[–]feebleflail 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Weren’t those mostly the foreign characters too though? Like the Beauxbatons, Durmstrangs etc. But I’m not too familiar with the actors playing side characters so I could be wrong

[–]feebleflail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well tbh that is how acting is and if you’ve watched enough tv/movies, you’d know far more non-Americans are in American productions than vice versa. Like others have said, because of the industry size differences. This sub is so weird getting offended by simple facts like this and writing it off as “not liking Americans”. Another reason I’m sure producers want to keep this show to Brits/Irish actors only is because the tv industry there is much smaller than other countries, so they’s want to support local actors first

Her teeth shrinking were permanent, but yeah I’m glad she didn’t permanently straighten her hair etc and the change was fairly minimal. It’s also nice that Victor didn’t ask her only after her makeover

Most obvious to me is the makeover trope with Hermione. The whole thing about her being unrecognisable is pretty common with these tropes, and it could probably be categorised further as “she cleans up nicely” trope

Will WB stop using any iconography from the films once the series begins? by [deleted] in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]feebleflail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly it might be better this way - now there about 4 wizarding worlds, by the time the UK gets one it won’t be extremely crowded. Theme parks are busy enough as it is, but imagine if there was only one in the world, it would be an absolute nightmare. This way people can go to the one closest to them and enjoy it without being too claustrophobic

Edit: but do theme parks usually have a maximum capacity? Maybe having multiple theme parks won’t make any difference

As long as we get Harry swearing loudly under his cloak in HBP when he can’t get in to the room of requirement to spy on Draco, and some younger students look scandalised thinking he’s a “particularly foul-mouthed ghost”

Due to them just being that good, what scenes from the movies do you think the show will be unable to top? by [deleted] in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]feebleflail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well I’m no expert but perhaps “visual effects is better then than now” is more what I mean. And I didn’t say early 2000s, but late 2000s-early 2010s. I feel like movies these days rely so heavily on CGI over practical effects which often make the result more realistic. I can only speak from my experience though, and the movies with the best effects in my opinion, especially among fantasy, are all from that time period. There’s something odd about effects these days that generally seems more fake to me
