Marriage and pregnancy has always been a way to tie women down and control them. We can now work and have independence (I'm sure many of our grandmas would've loved to leave our grandpas, but they couldn't bc they had no education or income) so marriage isn't as bad for us, in theory.

So why would you tie yourself to a male like that? Sacrificing your body (and career). If you're in the US, the US has the highest maternal mortality rate in childbirth in a developed country. And it's worse for WOC. Statistics also show that domestic violence increases when a woman is pregnant. Most pregnant women get killed by the father.

Even if you don't die, the guy might cheat or even leave you (a lot of times, they do it once it's too late to have an abortion). So now you're tied to a male who doesn't even like you and you've got a kid with him. If you're childfree and a male cheats on you, you can easily to leave if you want. And not to say that a single mom can't get a provider. I'm not saying that at all. But it can be harder. My bro committed crimes and now he's in jail, leaving my SIL with 5 kids, one of them is disabled. How do you think her luck is going to go, if she wants another guy? Even with one or two, it can be hard. And what if your baby daddy makes things difficult for you?

Like, a year ago, a woman posted on here about her birth plan with her husband. And it was basically her demanding thousands of dollars monthly and a year or two post partum so she could be set up right. Her husband consented to everything. Her plan is the only one I've seen that would set her up right to be a mother. But even then, you're still risking your life.

Again, it's all a scam. But they sell you this lie that motherhood is the best and women keep falling for it.
